What color should I paint my front door?

My front door is currently black, I would like to brighten it up some, any suggestions on a door color?

3 years agoDon't know if your entry is always so dark, but I had to brighten your photo a lot to see any detail of the door. My initial thought was because the entry was so dark it needed a saturated eye-grabbing red, so I tried Behr's No More Drama. It occurred to me that a lighter bright color might also work, so I used Behr's Gold Thread. It is much brighter than the trim around your windows, but in the darkness of the entry it is a near match.
Nonetheless, while I have tried to show real paint colors, there is no guarantee that any color I show will look the same when you paint it on your door. For one, it will be much brighter when you are close to it. Your porch light could cause it to look different at night than during the day. It may look different in the morning than the afternoon. Normally, you would buy a sample and see how it looks, but your door is not likely to use more than a quart. Check out these colors and others on Behr's color visualizer. Comments (20)Like the pergola over the garage door idea. If built to be sturdy enough to walk on it, then it could serve as a fire escape route should the need ever arise -- certainly hope it never does. You might also consider painting your step rails and side supports the same color as your siding unless you're planning to have a wood finish door and/or a rustic porch and post addition over the entry at a later date, in which case you'd want those additions to have the same wood finish. Comments (3)I like the color they are now. Is that stained wood? I guess you could paint them a bold salmon color, which would blend well with peaches and cream. Or navy. Is that synthetic green carpet on the entryway? It’s not very attractive, in this picture anyway....See Morehoussaon

3 years agoIt is hard to tell when we are not sure of the other colors on you home, but I would suggest a door in a yellow palet. I think Benjamin Moore HC-4 would potentially look nice. Good luck!
