Vote on teak chairs to go with MCM danish teak table.
Comments (31)OMGoodness! Chair #2 is $299. I can do that. But shipping is $300! Per chair!! Ouch! Such a bummer. And that would be sight unseen and never having sat in the chair. And all the chairs in my initial post except #6 are from the same store. #6 I could get locally. The white skirted chair is Ikea for $110. And there is an Ikea that is local for me. So, it looks like Ikea for the win! So not practical with my dogs, but... Although I may keep thinking about the Forza chairs too. I think those would actually go better because they are MCM style but I don't like the fabric much. Have to see if there are any in a fabric I like better. Moral: Don't fall in love with something until you get all the particulars. :) I expected the chair to cost about that much. I did not expect shipping to be anywhere near that much. Lesson learned. =)...See MoreChoosing dining chairs to go with a large, glossy table
Comments (37)Hi AJ! Now a vote for buying on consignment & reupholstering. I bought 6 Parsons-style chairs from a local furniture consignment shop; they were the size and scale that I wanted, and were substantial and sturdy...but covered in a nondescript fabric that made them easy to overlook. I think I paid $40 each, so $240 for all six (after pricing similar new chairs at about 10x that amount, upholstered in fabric that I didn't love). I had the seat cushions replaced with a thicker, firmer cushion, and had them upholstered in a darkish slate blue velvet...I think the complete cost (including the chairs themselves) ended up at a bit more than $2000. The chairs are comfortable to sit on, and have nice tall backs to lean against...pre-COVID, they lent themselves to hanging about the table with friends after dinner. If the reupholstering is in the budget, that could be the way to go!...See MoreCoffee Table - from chrome to black, help!
Comments (22)Hi deeinohio- Your experience using a powder coater may have been different than mine so I'll just mention that I've had multiple things done in the past and found it to be a less inexpensive way to go for what I had done than purchasing new. And it would have been even less expensive if I had gone with a color such as black that the powder coater used on a regular basis as they could have run it with another order. The hardest part for me was finding a shop that was willing to do a very small job. As with most things, always get quote and see if it makes sense....See MoreHelp me choose chairs to go with a 17th century dining table!
Comments (118)Hey fellow chair lovers! So, i made a decision 😬 i ordered 2 arch chairs from Sarah Ellison. And I got the big hairy light 😅 we obviously went over budget on the chairs, but they were just exactly right for me. I love the molded seat and postmodern column legs against the tables curves. we’ll do a bench at the back side (still considering a built in) Pictures below of the chairs, the light and a little mock up I did. Thanks again for such a fun and informative thread!...See Morehousegal200
