Plum pollinator

I have an existing Pembina plum that flowers beautifully every year but no fruit (it’s 7 years old). I was told that Nanking cherry (which I have) was a pollinator for the plum tree but clearly that does not appear to be the case. I am wanting to plant a Superior plum tree - will that work as a pollinator as they’re both American plums?
