Pillows/Shams for King Size Bed -- Guidance Needed
Comments (9)Sorry that I misunderstood your question. I use king-sized pillows in pillowcases for sleeping. When I make my bed, I lay them flat at the head. I place a set of king-sized pillows in shams on top of the sleeping pillows so that the wrinkled pillow cases aren't showing. In front of those, I use a collection of pillows that changes depending on my mood and the season. Sometimes, I use three Euro pillows in decorative shams with a boudoir pillow in a decorative sham in front of those. Sometimes, I skip the Euro pillows and use two standard pillows in decorative shams with a boudoir or neckroll pillow in front. In a guest room, where I keep the sleeping pillows stored away in a dust-proof bag, I use the following sets of decorative pillows from the headboard forward: five Euros, two kings, three 18" squares and one boudoir. Clearly, that many decorative pillows would be onerous to arrange every day, but I love the look. When I have guests, I move all of the decorative pillows to storage and provide several types of sleeping pillows in cases....See MoreIf you have a king size bed...
Comments (12)I can't sleep using a king size pillow, too large for me to scrunch. Doesn't matter that my (and DH's) standard pillows are underscale because they aren't seen. When I make the bed I hide the 2 pillows we actually sleep on behind 3 euro-shams which are purely decoration. And because I'm not a minimalist I like a 2nd row of pillows in front of the Euros in a different but coordinating fabric color & pattern. Those are 2 king pillows inside shams. AND if that's not enough I place a small pillow in front of those just because I don't think I have enough decorative pillows. :D I bought all of my shams over 5 years ago, I wasn't aware that king shams have been obsolete. I am pretty sure I've seen them because I still look at sheets and often the shams are mixed in. How you dress your bed depends on your decorating taste. My style could be outdated for all I know. Maybe you like contemporary and want a clean look with just the pillows you sleep on and nothing else. I can't imagine removing a pillow every night from its sham so you can use it to sleep on. Is that what you thinking of doing? Too much hassle. I've always used shams for decoration only....See MoreWhat Size Pillow Shams for King Size bed?
Comments (13)@anglophilia, we have a lot of pillows too! I sleep on 2 and DH sleeps on 1-2 and hugs another. Right now my setup is awful, but I usually put 3 standards in back, topped with 2 kings, then 2 standard shams, then 1 accent. DH hates all the pillows, but we I use a king and standard and he uses all standards. It's such a mess to make the bed and look nice. I think with a setup like my mockup photo, I could hide our old smushy standard pillows behind the king shams if needed. Then add king pillows in white pillowcases, then a couple accent pillows. I want to break up the sham and duvet pattern since they are the same....See MoreNeed a king sized bed, any ideas?
Comments (42)Any feedback about cons of having a King bed? Fewer bedding options. I'm extraordinarily picky, apparently, when it comes to linens/decor/houses/clothes/whatever, and I find that there are fewer selections of king-sized bedding (as opposed to queen). I actually have a queen-sized bed, but I buy oversized duvets and quilts for it. My husband has been reluctant to upgrade to a king, knowing that I already buy King stuff... If we trade our queen for a king, *poof* there goes my entire "look." :-(...See Morehollybar
