I predict it will be the face of things to come under the new health care law because cuts of payments to all health care providers for medicare patients are coming. Physicians are not required to take medicare, but face it...... if you were a gerentologist or internist whose praticise is comprised mostly of the older population they'd lose a lot of patients if you excluded the over 65s. A better answer is to continue to service these clients but ask for what amounts to a retainer for the priveledge. It essentially means those physicians or facilities will not be harmed by the reimbursement cuts. It just means the elderly will pay more out of pocket for their own care and nobody's pointing fingers at the government either, are they? They can add that to the part B, the Part D and their supplementals and deductables. Those seniors who cannot afford to dig deeper to assure continuation with their provider of choice, well they'll have to find a provider who does not charge this retainer and still will accept medicare. Nobody really believed that the health care community was going to take a pay cut did they? Those physicians who continue to accept medicare will not only face increasing patient loads to cover for those who drop servicing medicare patients but that also translates to decreasing compensation per visit or service, and longer waits for appointments for the patient trying to get in....See Moredoctor question, just curious for opinion
Comments (2)Thank you, agnespuffin. Another calmer sibling was told of the situation today, and seemed to understand where his brother was coming from, and also the doctor. (It's interesting to be on the outside looking in on the workings of these people.) He says he knows his brother's heart and that he wouldn't do anything to harm the situation, but thinks he used poor judgement in the way he went about it. Too bad my husband always looks guilty no matter what he does. Unfortunately, the doctor is trained to look for things and has to report anything he feels is off. It will be interesting to hear what the 4th sib has t say. Thank you again....See MoreBio mum's bad parenting
Comments (12)Lice are usually attracted to clean hair! That seems funny doesn't it? So, a lice problem does not necessarily mean any neglect or lack of effort on the bm's part. I had a friend in a similar situation with her stepkids. Everytime they would come to visit her and their dad the boy and girl had lice. It became a routine to strip. bathe, and de-lice the kids when they walked in the door! Eventually they shaved the boys head and cut the girls hair short. They talked to the bm and told her how harmful all the chemicals in the constant lice treatments were for the kids. (They were using a treatment every other weekend when the kids arrived) Luckily, they worked it out where they kept the kids for over a week, while the bm was able to wash everything and steamclean rugs, etc. The problem went away. Maybe this would be an option if you presented it to her in a way where you were not placing blame, but agreeing that lice are hard to get rid of. Maybe you could even offer to buy the stuff to spray on furniture to help her get rid of the problem? And, since it is summer and hair grows back quickly on boys, maybe she may even agree to shaving his head to help get rid of the problem? Good luck!...See MorePet Sitting
Comments (23)If you want to find a house- and pet-sitter, think about placing notices advertising for one at area schools -- at grammar and HS for teachers and at colleges and grad schools for teachers or adult students. We call ahead to see if the school permits this, then bring in or email a notice like this: WANTED: HOUSE & DOG SITTER (Our location) couple needs dog-lover to live in their newer, one-floor home and care for their (X-years old), small dog while they are out of town for a month this winter. Must be able to feed and walk the dog (however often -- three times a day in our case because he has IBS) and play with him. Garage for your car. Plowing service engaged. One mile from center of town. Please call between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.: (Cell phone number) Be vague enough that a reader will not know exactly when you will be away, and don't give a phone that can be easily traced to your address. When you get calls, tell them what you are paying. If they are still interested, take their information and phone numbers and get back to them. Only provide identifying information to your final candidates. Most of the teachers in our town live elsewhere, as did the police officer we hired. Sitters have been happy to be close to work in the winter instead of making long commutes. Most years there are a few new hires, single people, who respond to the add. There's a college in town and two private schools in addition to the public and parochial ones. As flamingo said, we leave a clean house and expect the same when we return. There is a "NO Visitors" understanding....See Moremaifleur03
