Is that the measurement you are suggesting for the distance of electrical outlets, or for distance between the globes?

Space measurement is on center for the outlets. The electrician should be able to help.

I found many answers to this when looking, but most were less than clear to me. I wish I could remember the source for this, but I copied and pasted and it makes wonderful sense.

Lighting Above a Kitchen Island

Pendants and mini pendants are commonly used to provide ambient and task lighting over a kitchen island or work surface.

Make sure to account for equal space around each pendant. Use this formula to determine how much:

1. Measure the length of the island/table in inches.
   Example: 60" wide
2. Determine how many pendants you want and the diameter of each. Add them up for a combined diameter.
   Example: 3 pendants with an 8" diameter. Combined diameter = 24"
3. Subtract the combined diameter from the length of the island.
   Example: 60" - 24"= 36"
4. Add 1 to the number of pendants. This accounts for the space between each pendant and the ends of the island.
   Example: Since we started with 3 pendants, we’ll tick this number up to 4.
5. Divide your subtracted value by the number of pendants.
   Example: 36" ÷ 4 = 9". You’ll want to aim for 9" of space in between each pendant.

Wow, so scientific! I also got several opinions when looking for info, so not sure there is an actual rule. We already hung them the way we thought looked good. As it turns out, it is .4 more than the above formula. I didn't see this suggestion anywhere, but we also placed them between the 4 barstools. Thank you for your response.

Clearly if you were able to hang them how they looked best- you did it right! I am not able to do that as the room is bare but measured out the footing of island. The electrician was marking where lights will go. Fortunately he pretty much said the same as my rule. (I was just nervous that he would place them too spread out or too close... in our last house, we had a "friend" hang a replacement chandelier in our dining room in the exact spot where the old one was. We were selling the house..... it seemed a no brainer..........of course he hung it too too high. House sold so no issues but from that, I just don't like to assume.). Anyway I am sure yours look perfect.
