Comments (2)I have mixed brands in stainless in almost every kitchen I have designed and in my own and as long as you stick to plain old stainless and not the smudge proof ones or black stainless you will be just fine....See MoreGE Cafe Handles on non-Cafe appliances?
Comments (83)@Kanye - I know you have spent a lot of money on this but don't let that sunk cost rule the decision. Those look like fairly aggressive threads and this could damage the entire panel when they pull out and mean spending a lot more money. Here is my recommendation. Order the above part or find a generic version of it online and order that. When it comes in go to a hardware store and figure out the thread pitch or threads per inch, which is just a fancy way of saying screw on nuts until you find one that fits perfectly and write down that information. It will probably be metric so likely M6x1 or M8x1.25 but it could be SAE, probably 1/4-20 or 12-24. Once you have that information, there are two options that your handy man shouldn't have a problem with. 1.) *Better - Order a female receiver for a sex bolt (a.k.a. binder bolt, connector bolt) that matches that size. Remove the appliance panel and drill a hole through it. Push the female end through the back and thread the post onto it. 2.) If you can't remove the appliance panel, you can use a threaded insert. Threaded inserts still have to deal with wood movement but there is just so much thread area on a threaded insert that they just don't have to worry so much about wood movement. Eventually they are likely fail, but still will likely outlast the appliance. They also have the advantage of being able to be installed without removing the door by simply drilling a proper sized hole in the door and threading the insert in. So long as it is drilled true, the post will be much better....See MoreGE Profile Black Stainless vs GE Cafe Black Slate??
Comments (2)The matte black Cafe color is very different from stainless. I don't know if it is actually the same as the "black slate" in the other GE brands. In any case, it has a lovely, flat look -- it doesn't have the glossy coat or the brushed metal grain of stainless. It's also IMO morea deep gray than black. I haven't had the range all that long, so I don't know about real longevity, but it seems tough! Mine does have a little scratch, but it's associated with a pretty serious dent (i.e. it took a lot of force to make the scratch)....See MoreWould the white GE Cafe range clash with a stainless steel fridge?
Comments (2)Generally speaking it is hard to say what will look right without a better idea what else is going on in the space...in principal a mis-matched fridge is a no-no...especially with such a unique/stylized choice for the other appliances...add that to cabinets that are shiny?...or a kitchen that is not the right style for this finish?..will the sink be shiny?...on and on......See Moreitsourcasa
