Help me find an outdoor rug (please)

We purchased our house a year ago and asked for all of the porch furniture as part of the sale. I am ready to upgrade the rug and looking at Memorial Day sales and feeling clueless about what will go best. The existing rug is definitely too busy for me. I have three kids under 4 so it has to be darker/hold up well to traffic.

Should I be looking in the beige family? Could I get away with navy? WhAt pattern can I do that doesn’t compete with the green cushions? Any ideas appreciated. Thanks!

Hi! Thanks so much for the help, everyone. Updating cushions isn’t in my budget currently and I wanted to share the rug I ended up selecting.

Love the rug with the sofa cushions - it’s the orange cushions that throw everything off. Change those to a beige.

You could just as well go with navy but wait to change your cushions (if that is what you want to do) until you have a rug in place. I was checking the many sales that are happening right now. I would want to go with a navy rug - patterned rug most likely. Navy is your base color and your existing orange and green cushions will work with it on some rugs, not others. Just add in a pillow or two with all the colors.

Thanks for the replies. I see that the link for the first rug didn't work. It's my favorite of the 3. 1st rug - trying again I looked at Home Depot over the weekend but didn't find anything suitable. I don't have a Lowe's nearby but will check online. I checked Overstock but didn't think to check Joss & Main or Amazon. I would be happy with a 12' by 15' rug. It will be in my sun room, and I am not sure what else will be in there. I have a sofa and a round dining table in there now. I just tossed out the love seat that was in there, and am thinking about replacing it with a couple of chairs. The sofa will go eventually, too. The floor is concrete and currently has wall to wall carpet. I plan to rip the carpet and pad out this weekend and I am not sure what I am going to do for flooring long term, but a large outdoor carpet would cover it for now. Long term, I am debating between everything from just painting the concrete, to staining it, to tiling it, to laminate or vinyl plank. I am concerned about laminate or vinyl scratching when my cats inevitably get litter stuck to their paw pads and drag it across the room.

Do you have any of the original carpet left over. When we got new carpeting there was some left over and we had the carpet company bind it and put it in the foyer.

Hmmm, did you take the photo in a store, or a friends house, or.....? There may be a label that shows the brand and the name on the back side, if you could 'visit' that one again. :-)

Wow I love this - you captured the look perfectly! The coral may be an issue but looks like there are enough to orange/pink/coral tones it should be ok. SO hard to find the apple green and you nailed it. Open to other suggestions as well but thank you! (And thanks for the compliments on the room. We bought a furnished condo in Florida that had all the furniture but the rocker and end tables - but very fussy pillows, bed covering, dust ruffles etc. I’ve had fun making it much more clean lined. A late addition was this piece - which again totally goes with the rug you chose!

Not a Pro.

I love the rug, but I think you can do better with your throw pillows. When your budget increases, you may want to consider something similar to this. You have a lot of throw pillows, I don't think you need that many.

Update. I ended up finding inexpensive covers on amazon for the cushions. What do you think?
