How long does it take?
Comments (10)I'm no fish expert either, but this is what I did. I read about ways to get your fish to eat out of my hand. One thing is do not feed your fish for a few days. Don't worry, fish will find little things to chomp on, so they will not go hungry... much. Sit by the pond (quietly) and put your hand with a little food (3-4 pellets) in it, into the water. Release the food into water. The key is to move slowly and quietly (as they become used to you, they will tolerate faster movements and some noise). Also start out feeding in one select spot until they get use to you as their "food source". They will come to the food. Just stay there quietly. Stay there until all food is eaten. Add a little more. Soon they will SEE you as the source of food (right now they see it as falling out of the sky - lucky them). It takes patience; Presently I have one fish that comes right up to the side (I can rub it under/around the mouth). Anyone walks out to the pond, that fish moves, and the others follow. The others are just there, a foot away. I've gotten caught up in summer activities and haven't focus on the training of my fish much recently. My next step is to choose my next fish to selectively feed and focus on it to come to the side (there are a few candidates). Comments (1)Yes, it will do harm. First, you stand a good chance of breaking the bond between the tile and thinset if you get on it too quick. Secondly, you can have a condition known as latex migration, where the latex in the thinset comes up through the grout to the surface of the joints, appearing either as a chalky or scaly substance that's tough as nails to get rid of. Even for a wet mud job, though, this should've dried by now, unless you have moisture coming up through the slab....See MoreHow long did it take (is it taking you) to decide?
Comments (9)Second time around for me in 5 years so I have the benefit of hindsight also popping in and out here and reading. What's most interesting is how much is new. OTOH new isn't always better because, in the end, the service issues can be very affecting. I'm still having them with a built in fridge f.ex. 5 years later. Physical restrictions helped this time. Things had to fit in certain spaces, space is tight and certain things will and won't work. I spent 2 weeks looking and researching. I've got quotes and made my decision, which won't change. I did drawings of the new plan and had a virtual rendering done as well to see how the new color and tile and counters looked with the appliances. I'm very pleased with choices. What helps is knowing what you want and being able to budget around that. What I didn't find helpful was info/judgments given to me by salespeople. I spent time emailing folks here on old threads to see what their experiences have been over time. They all answered quickly and were incredibly generous in their comments. Having the same input from 2 or 3 people you don't know but who say the same thing more or less based on their every day experience was the most helpful to me in my decisions....See MoreTile Tub Surround-How long should it take?
Comments (7)I'm a DIY-er, and I tiled a 3'x4' shower (walls and ceiling) with 4x4s and 6x6's with a couple decorative bands and some inset glass tiles in about 20 hours total. I tiled the 8'x10' floor in 6 hours total, including laying the Ditra but not the grouting. I don't consider myself very speedy, particularly on walls. Is your guy working 8 hour days?...See MoreJoseph Corlett, LLC
