Silverstone Calacatta gold. More subtle and classy

Definitely Calcutta. The other one is beautiful, but it limits your other choices. With such a bold pattern on the countertop, your accessories will be extremely limited, and you will run the risk of the space looking cluttered with only minimal items on the counter. If you ever want to change other elements of your kitchen, the Britannica will make the process much more difficult. The trend nowadays seems to be away from bold patterns.

Follow up question: Is there a difference between Silestone Calacutta Gold and Silestone ETERNAL Calacutta Gold? My sample in pictures below does not state Eternal. I also have Silestone's catalogue that does not state Eternal. However, I very often see the word Eternal in pictures for Silestone Calacutta gold. Do you know if they are one and the same?

Between those two go with the Silestone; the BG will definitely become dated much faster.

I can't answer your follow up question but can say that if you're worried a design element is too loud and will be outdated in a few years, you might be right. Listen to your gut and trust your eye. It's your space to make your own. My advice is to choose your elements as a whole and not piecemeal, meaning seeing close-ups of elements is a tricky way to choose them. Don't forget to see the elements in their proper relationship, meaning some will be vertical, others horizontal. Can you set them up this way for yourself and see them at a distance for the "whole" picture?

Did you have inspiration pictures for your kitchen? Sometimes going back to our inspiration pics and seeing what drew us to them can be very helpful. Notice which and how many elements are "loud", "quiet", etc. Also, note where these elements are. Are the bold ones on a horizontal (floor, counter) or vertical plane (wall, cabinet door, etc.)? Which plane do you notice first? What other elements in the space drew your eye? Another important thing to keep in mind when looking at inspiration pics: lighting. Inspiration pics are usually professionally photographed with optimized lighting and our homes can fall short in offering us the same "Instagram-worthy" environment. This is why it's important to see the elements as a whole in our space, in our own natural lighting.

@sinfan The Eternal Calacatta Gold looks VERY different than the older Calacatta Gold pattern. I recently saw both slabs at the fabricator’s warehouse. To me, the older patter looked like skinny gray snakes squirming on the slab. I did not like that pattern at all. I thought the newer Eternal version was a much prettier pattern. The color variation in the veining is also softer and more varied.

My kitchen Reno has started!! I posted a concern this morning on Houzz seeking advice and received no response so I thought I would post same concern here and maybe have better luck since at least some people responded to my original post.
They installed our porcelain floors yesterday. I love them! The issue is under the door. When opened, there is a very wide grout line you can see plus the tile is chipped. I am not happy with it at all. Am I being too picky?? Should I ask that the tile by the door be removed and recut? What about the thick grout? Can anything be done about to correct it? I contacted contractor first thing this morning when I noticed it. (we were told not to open back door yesterday) but he never responded although his crew was here installing the base cabinets. I heard he went fishing today. The last picture was taken outside looking in. Note that these pictures were taken this morning before the cracks appeared in the grout. Any suggestions / comments would be greatly appreciated.

You are not being picky! I would definitely keep after the contractor and tell him your concerns and tell him you want the piece redone. It looks like someone just didn't want to take the time to cut (or recut) the properly fitting tile so the big grout line wouldn't be there (never mind the chips!). Its location makes the issue even more important being that it's right there as you open the door. Good luck!
