Need to match dining chairs - got any ideas? See Pics
Comments (18)My dining room table seats 10 and can fit 12 in a pinch. When not in use, there are 8 chairs around it. Knowing I'd squeeze 12 people in there on occasion, I got 12 matching chairs (windsor chairs with wide backs). I'd be much happier if I had gotten a bench or something with a much smaller back for the extra chairs. The backs of the chairs are practically locked together when I have a full house. Really, I wish I had just gotten a couple of saddle chairs (no back at all). This would work especially well for me, since at least a few of my guests are usually children. Anyway, this is a long winded way of seconding the parsons chair idea or bench idea!...See MoreNeed help choosing light fixture above dining table
Comments (7)Sorry not getting a feel for this space at all. Waht is that huge indent in the wall for? That spot for dining is going to be horrible seating for anyone except kids Maybe take some pics from further back or a to scale floor plan , anything that gives a better feel for the space...See MoreWant a modern living room, dining room; layout ideas needed
Comments (27)Agree with lynartist get someone knowledgeable in to look at the walls. Shifting the color used makes a huge difference. I would not have the walls smoothed or made shiny. But there are all sorts of ways to approach this and end up with a great looking home. Consider moving the functions of the two spaces. A modern dining area with a fireplace, even such an ornate one, could be spectacular and marry well with a more intimate USED space for conversations, drinks, and even just solo book readin'! Making the switch would also de-emphasize the fireplace and allow it to look its very best. A bit of a paradox but look at many old European houses and you'll see it again and again. My other preference would be to have a wood refinisher take down the shine on the floor. Congratulations and I hope you let us know how this progresses....See MoreHELP - Living/Dining Layout Ideas
Comments (1)Like the corner with windows on two sides. Temperature aside, the one negative that comes to mind to all that light is the potential glare on the tv. You might want to put whatever tv you get on a portable stand so you can adjust its positioning as needed. This is a modern space so a portable stand should fit in well. Some have more position options than others. https://www.google.com/search?q=portable+tv+stands&client=firefox-b-1-d&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjko7Ku36zqAhUfmXIEHY-OC0QQ_AUoAnoECA0QBA&biw=1366&bih=654 A sectional will just about fill up your seating area and you will be extremely limited with regard to placement and very limited as to other seating. Large pieces could crowd your space making it fee smaller than necessary. IF a sectional is torn or stained -- any issue that cannot be fixed -- then that is a lot of costly seating you'd need to replace to get rid of a problem. When you furnish your study/den, you might consider choosing chairs that could be brought out to the living area when you have guests so you could have a less crowded space the rest of the time. Draw, to scale, your space and then draw, to scale, the furnishings you are considering for it so you cut out the pieces of furniture and see what will or will not fit the way you want. For tv watching, I have a personal preference for size appropriate swivel rocker recliners....See MoreRelated Professionals
