I actually like the original peninsula from Creekylis' idea #1. The refrigerator location is actually a plus...it makes it available to not only the kitchen but also to the DR, FR, & Nook and has the added bonus that if someone from the Nook or FR needs to get to the refrigerator s/he won't have to go into the kitchen and possibly interfere w/prep/cooking/cleaning up. Using the same thoughts, having a peninsula next to the refrigerator forces someone going to the refrigerator for a snack to enter the working area of the kitchen. If it were me, I also would not want to close off the entry hall and force everyone to go through the FR to get to the Nook or Kitchen (and, to get to the kitchen you have to go around the peninsula). Maybe you could take Weedyacres' idea only make it a free-standing peninsula attached to that small 3' wall. It would give you more space in the Nook. If you have the seating facing the kitchen you could then, on the kitchen side, have an undercounter MW and store snacks in drawer next to the MW. See the picture below. Yes, someone from the FR will have to go around to get to the MW or refrigerator, but it shouldn't be too bad since it's not that big a detour. There will still be some separation from the kitchen work area as well.

Oh my gosh if that doesn't scream British Colonial, (or West Indies style) then nothing does! If you don't want to do circular furniture, then I would group a table and chairs in one area cushy seating in another..since the corner with the doors isn't really usable, I would have the part furthest from the house for a table and chairs, and the corner opposite the sliders for sofas/chairs... That leaves the part by the doors for meditation/yoga... I have a hunch that guests will gather here.. I can't tell what the floor is, but it looks like carpet? I would tile it and have sisal/jute and/or Persian rugs layered...

The fireplace looks "tacked on"...It needs some framing and a mantle redo. The brick is fine and very timeless. I would look for a small scale low back sofa that you could place backing to the kitchen.....and of course some bar stools for people who want to be part of the kitchen action. And ditch the mirror for a more traditional simple framed one. I am a big fan of a mirror in a narrow room to give the illusion of more width. One house we owned had a long narrow living room....and the new owners covered the short wall with mirror tile....made it look like a hallway!

I really like Flo's layout for your room. It was the same as I was thinking. It makes sense to take advantage of as much of the floor space as you have available. In a narrow room, having the TV over the fireplace makes it difficult for viewing. Better to take advantage of the empty wall space you have to put it at a comfortable height. She posted some great options above for furniture and accessories as well.
