bosch sge63e15uc dw: loud click when closing door, child lock
Comments (0)We just got a Bosch SGE63E15UC dishwasher, purchased from and installed by Sears. This is the ADA-compliant model, which we needed to fit the cutout in our kitchen. There is a very loud and annoying click/pop sound when the door is closed and latched. It might seem nitpicking, but it's so loud and abrupt that it makes us wonder if it's supposed to be that way, or if our unit is defective. The sound is sort of amplified by the hollow-feeling handle. It's not exactly like a gunshot, but it's enough to startle you the first time you hear it. Think of popping the cork on a bottle of champagne, or popping a balloon. We weren't able to find this dishwasher at any store, so we haven't been able to compare ours with a floor model to see if it makes the same sound. Does anyone else have this dishwasher, and if so, does it make the same sound? I believe this is a very recent model; does anyone know if this is typical of recent Bosch models? We're also a little confused about the Child Lock feature. It isn't documented in the manual at all. After several calls to Bosch, we were able to find out how to turn it on and off (press and hold the "Heavy" button once the wash cycle is started), but we're not clear on what exactly it does - does it prevent the door from being opened, or lock out some or all of the controls? Any info/advice greatly appreciated, Mark...See MoreDoors Lock when I Put Key in the Ignition
Comments (13)A number of Dodge cars have had some form of automatic door locking feature since at least 1989. Usually, after a front door has been opened, all four door locks are activated upon passing through 15 mph. This doesn't hamper the front passengers since their doors will unlock upon moving the inside door handle, however, the rear passengers may find themselves locked in depending on the setting of the rear door child locks. Even when the child lock has not been set, the rear passengers may find that they have to manually move the lock button to the unlock position before the door handle will unlatch the door. There are many variations on this theme. For Dodges, there is a routine of on-off-on cycles executed through the ignition switch that can activate or de-activate the auto-locking feature. I suspect you vehicle also has a similar method that won't require a trip to the dealer. However, I have never de-activated this feature in my car since it does not cause an inconvenience and the procedure is not intuitive; 6 mo later, I won't remember the sequence and would have to look it up again. However, in your case, unlocking all doors upon key removal could get to be a nusiance. If you can't find the arm/disarm procedure in your 3rd party repair manual, you may be able to find it on-line at your local library....See MoreOld Manual Garage Door Lock

Comments (13)Last weekend the handle seized as it was pulled upward to lock the active door. After first removing, oiling and replacing the inside door handle, I repeated the process on the outside door handle with no luck. Today, I tried Kashmi's July 6, 2011 post regarding pushing out on the door while pushing down on the handle. This senior citizen had to alternate the pushing of door and handle, but with gradual movement of both. Finally gave it all I had left and the door opened! I've oiled the parts not accessible when the doors are closed and they operate better than when new. Thank you for the knowledge that it was not just this door lock that had jammed and the help to resolve the problem....See Morecat_ky
