Do you have a favorite color, or any accessories or art for the room? Here are two green rugs to give you some ideas on how to add color. They would be good with your sofa.

Is there another place in room for sectional? Would you post pics of all 4 walls.

A rug like this one has shades of gray and then a brown accent to coordinate with your sectional.

Definitely need a few more pics. And maybe you could share what your thoughts are on each of the 'tested' shades?

Only thing I would suggest (so far) is to hang your new drapes a bit higher and wider. Consider extending the rod 8"-12" on either side of window. as for wall color, what else do you have in the room? any colors you really like?

I'd also paint your front door.

The drapes. right now they're too bulky, especially since they hang behind the sofa.

move the sofa away from the window and closer to the fireplace.

doesn't make sense to have drapes if the lower half is going to be hidden. just do a blind of some type.

Here is a picture of the whole room To get a better idea. Second picture shows how the living room opens up to the kitchen. It also shows a very poorly painted winds breath on the wall. Think that color would work?

There are so many directions you could go, with such a neutral base. This is one I put together just now ... but not knowing what styles you like. I mainly wanted to show an example of doing a mood board yourself to see what grabs you. You can play around with colors, styles, etc.

I used Wind’s Breath as the color chip for this and went with a sort of modern rustic style. Again, to illustrate a mood board, not so much to suggest these individual items.

(ETA: I didn’t know about your other threads, sorry if I’m repeating anything.)

These are all Wind’s Breath, too. I’ve never personally used it, so can’t say how it’d look in your house.

So with over 100 comments relating to this room and color, why do you keep asking the same question? You have gotten more than your share of advice.

8x10 rug for room. Move the sectional away from the window and toward the fireplace a bit.

@Beth H. : the rug we have is a 5x7 but yes i am aware I need a bigger one. we plan on getting new window treatments.. the ones we have need to go for sure.

@Celery. Visualization, Rendering images or I don’t have 7. I mentioned I posted another but wanted some fresh ideas. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that.

@Beth H. : so I posted 3 times and I thought I actually deleted the Second post... so really only twice. One of the posts was a lot of back and forth with 1 or 2 people, and the other specifically asking about beige paint colors.. not room design. Just looking for different style ideas & paint color suggestions. Maybe I have the wrong idea about what this site is about? But I thought it was just about giving opinions and helping others...

Is the Winds Breath the color behind the chair, to the left of the TV in the picture? If so, it looks fine, and appears to work well with your fireplace stone. It's a good neutral to work with. Paint is only one part of design. Stop agonizing on finding the "perfect" color, and allow yourself to move on and finish your room.

Have you given any thought to SW Shiitake? It's a complimentary color to Comfort Gray, if that's what's in your kitchen.

Paint your fireplace wall BM Van Deusen Blue. It will create a beautiful backdrop for your fireplace and room. You could take the color into your dining room on the far wall to. It would be beautiful and create some architectural interest with your vaulted ceiling. Just do it. What’s the worse that can happen. As a “pro” here, I am basically a volunteer non-compensated just interested in helping folks like you. That’s what everyone here does. Lends their professional or personal help. What is fun, is when people take steps as suggested and I would say in 90+% of the time, are pleasantly surprised and love how their spaces were transformed in ways they never expected or would have thought of. So, take the plunge. If Sherwin Williams is your preferred paint try SW Naval. Either of these deep blues will have your home swooning for more!! Pillows, a bigger rug and you will feel so good! Just do it.

Jinx, she's gotten over 120 comments on the other 3 posts. With the same questions. People have spent time giving her plenty of color examples, helping her w/layout, drapes, etc. I'm sorry you think it's perfectly fine. I find it rather rude, unless she comes back and tells us why none of those suggestions worked.

kjobe,,, Instead of repeatedly posting dilemmas every few weeks that ask the same thing, why don't you tell us all what you don't like about the other multitude of advice you've been given?

Tell us why none of the colors won't work, tell us what you don't like from the examples given. Then perhaps we can all narrow things down and find something that works.

Why don't you look at it from our point of view? Some of us take it seriously and put in a lot of time and effort to help people. (I bet Flo has spent a good 30 mins helping you by putting together layouts. Design South too) we search through photos to see what would work for you, we look at all the colors we're familiar with and pass those along to you, and we give advice on the best placement of your furniture. All of that has been done. multiple times.

So please, tell us what you didn't like about it.

The word here is INTENT

Jinx, Beth has no intent but to help the op.. . When you post multiple threads on the very same topic, it is no different than a "dupe" . Your answers become confusing, you have to check all your posts ! Another reader, whether gen pop or Pro, has no clue there are two OTHER posts! If you started another because your thread was getting no more replies? All you have to do to revive it is post another COMMENT. On that same thread! I like, I don;t like, etc. Is there a law that prevents starting a new thread? Of course not, but it defeats your intent..........which is to get help. .

Intent: Design involves intent. A point of view, and purpose. When an OP says: :

"I cannot decide how I want to do my living room." they are simply saying'" I'm LOST" They are saying they haven't got a clear intent in style, color , feel.....anything. In this case, the op has a sofa and cocktail table. End story. Why blue curtains, and that rug? I don't know why. The op probably doesn't know either.

Rather than police comments? Break down the process for the OP. Suggest a pecking order for the lost.

Take DOWN the blue curtains. Please. The room is not yet ready for them. In any color.

Find an 8 x 10 rug that acknowledges the sofa/sectional in some way. A bit of that tone in the rug. .......it has to be something you really like. Come back to THIS thread, and post what you found. YOU have to decide......and you must begin somewhere, You don't begin with paint. You don't begin with curtains. You give yourself a road map to follow. The rug you have relates to nothing in tone, it is too small. Start with a rug. Come back.
