Would like to add screen porch...
Comments (11)Klem, You know, when I brought this idea to my Dad he said "buy a new house". Since this would be the first project of it's kind that I'll have done, I'm also probably underestimating complexities. I like the idea of a screened in front porch and see even a small area that could accommodate it, I'm just trying to make it a reality, yet the more people I talk to, the fewer think I should do it or it should be done. I perhaps should have pursued a permit to see if the city would even allow it, but I really want to see if my idea itself is possible, not necessarily if it is allowed. Kind of a validation thing. Maybe one day I'll seek out a contractor because this is sounding like a bit of a heavier project than I initially thought/hoped. Millworkman, If I had ever figured out how to build it, I would pursue a permit. Maybe that's the opposite of how it should be done...?...See MoreHow to add curb appeal and make closed in front porch less awkward?
Comments (21)@Elaine Doremus Resumes Written Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately we were not able to find any images of the home from the past. I was hoping some folks on Houzz might be able to tell what style it originally was or at least give some good direction on how to we can restore it. For example I think the roof line may have originally gone straight back, instead of the second pitched section of the roof you can see on the left side. I apologize - I know I am not using the correct terminology! The home also has cheap vinyl replacement windows, so I would like to one day replace them. Maybe the anderson craftsman or farmhouse line? I wonder if we would change the scale of the windows at all......See MoreHow can I add color to front porch???
Comments (13)Cutest house!! Love it!! I agree with the Above to have the columns painted all white. Do a more decorative door mat. Maybe put all four chairs on one side of the porch. And on the other side maybe do a swing. ..... You can add outdoor rugs. Maybe paint the porch ceiling. Cushions. Pillows on the swing. Maybe planters on the sides of the porch. (With some more color...) I think I’d look to add blues and whites. Think stripes. Light calm pretty colors. Gorgeous space!!...See MoreHow would you add a screened porch
Comments (47)@Allison0704 my DIL has suggested the island between the rooms. If we open the wall then I struggle with a place for the fridge as well as making this an ” open ” concept which DH and I are both pretty set against. This is a tiny house 1300 sq ft on this main floor. I am thinking of its resale /rental appeal for a 4 person family. There are challenges in keeping away spaces in such a small house besides the bedrooms. I will know more when we get into the house . Thank you for presenting ideas. As to the patio it will be morning sun on that side of the house so lovely shade in the afternoon. There is a nice sized covered front porch as well so he can move around from place to place! @Annie Deighnaugh haha! no chance of that !...See MoreRelated Professionals
