ThatÂs what I was afraid of. I didnÂt want to put ideas in peopleÂs headsÂbut that is the reservation I have. I think having to use it on one side of the wall, asymmetrically, doesnÂt work. I was SO sure it would look great, and be really like the finishing touch in this room. Darn! The thickness, bulkiness, of it bothers me too, in that place. Too much mass. I thought, before I tried it, that it would balance the weight of the solid looking vanity. Instead it just makes it look like too much weight on the left side of the room and nothing on the right. Having to one side bothers me with the light fixture too, and I love that light. It doesnÂt show well in the photos, but is a stained glass repro I ordered from a craftsman lighting company, in a custom size. The mirror is discontinued, so I canÂt get another to balance it better. It doesnÂt look right centered on the big mirror either. Too odd when you are standing in front of the vanity. Sigh. I love this mirror. Buying this one when it went on clearance was what made me decide to have a craftsman bathroom in the first place! (Well, that and it opens off a craftsman family room.) I have one open wall on that room, where I used to have a framed picture. IÂll try propping it up there. The craftsman family room already has a mirror.

Framed or beveled frameless, either will look fine. Actually since you don't have a light fixture, framed might be better. That was my first inclination but I thought it might be too much dark wood because of the medicine cabinet. I'd use a plain frame about 2 1/2" wide. I would still raise it above the back splash to let several inches of paint show.

Or - if anyone here has experience with this - below are the measurements the builder provided for the size of the big frameless mirrors they would put in - so I can find something to fit into that space. I shrunk down a little from each so it can be hung a little higher to allow plenty of clearance for faucet, and centered over the vanity. Builder's Measurements - Mirror size I picked; bathroom 1: 66x36 - 63x33 Bathroom 2: 36x36 - 33x33 Bathroom 3: 42x36 - 40x33 Mirror has a 1.563 in. inch Wide Frame. The way I "sized down" from the space available, is that sufficient, or should I make the mirror a little bit smaller to allow slightly more "room for error"? I'm super excited about this - my first attempt got me three mirrors for $1k, second attempt got me down to $900, this place will be about $600!!

I’ve had master baths with large mirrors like yours and others with smaller mirrors hanging over each sink. I like the larger mirrors and opted to keep ours when we moved into a new house earlier this year. We framed around the mirror to match the molding; it was a custom job by a trim carpenter. Despite being passé, it is bright and reflects a lot of light and looks clean and is functional. Do not raise the height of your vanity /makeup area. It’s more convenient for actual use in its existing configuration. If you frame your mirror you will need to get a free standing mirror to sit on the lowered vanity counter. You should probably do that anyway; get one that flips to magnification on the other side.
