Does anyone know what kind of rhododendron this is?

Hi all -

There are beautiful white to very light pink rhododendrons all over my neighborhood, but none of my neighbors remember what type they are - and, when I went to a local nursery, the suggestions they made were all too pink. So, anyone out there with a green thumb who could help me identify this or suggest rhodies in similar coloration? I am in zone 6 and none of the bushes I’ve seen are over five feet, though most of them are quite mature (definitely 10+ years old).

Oh boy!! With more than a 1000 species and at least 10,000 registered cultivars, it is tricky to get very specific with any ID's :-)) And there are many possibilities fitting that rough, pale pink description. A few that come to mind are:

Christmas Cheer (an early bloomer but NOT at Christmas!!)

Janet Blair

Cilpinense

Pink Pearl

or most of the yakushimanum hybrids....Dreamland, Teddy Bear, Ken Janeck, Yaku Princess, Grumpy, Mardi Gras

It's not really possible to identify from these pictures. You will need to let the culms mature and grow. There are like 1500 types of bamboo and cross species... There is a large culm that is cut, so you are probably looking at a 30-60ft bamboo species there.

The plant app PictureThis says it is a ficus aka rubber tree. They can grow quite tall.

Thank you so much, gardengal48! This is super helpful - and as you rightly guessed, I’m not looking for the exact id, just some ideas of what to look for in garden centers if I want to get that super pale pink color... Am now obsessively looking up all of your suggestions!

And it’s a great idea to add more tags to the post - if only I could figure out how to edit!
