help on how to remove faded blooms from climbing rose please?
Comments (19)I recommend that you listen to michaelg. When your roses get large and you don't have the time to do all that cutting, you can learn to snap off spent bloom at the abscission layer. It makes absolutely no difference whether you cut at an angle or cut to an outside facing bud. In fact, you may slow rebloom by doing so on some cultivars. Don't believe me. Look at my garden and judge for yourself. I've been doing this for years. Your precious time is better spent watering, weeding, and mulching. Exceptions are long, tall, narrow Hybrid Tea-types that grow 30 inch stems, roses you're planted in the wrong space that are too large for the area...and roses I never deadhead at all because they rebloom no matter what. My top 10 roses. My next 20 or so. Warning: links to the Galley are graphics intensive. Cass...See MoreHELP us update our faded and 90s shutters and front door!
Comments (13)That arched window is waht is throwing me off so I for sure would not add shutter to enhance it since it does not work at all with the style of the house. The shutters on the main floor make that porch feel very dark and really are not the right size either. That will them allow you to either keep the front door as is or another color . I would do white trim and widen the trim around the bottom windows instead of the shutters. I think I would do a railing on the porch even thought code wise it probably doesn’t need it. A fall off there could break a leg. Then you need to work on landscaping ....See MoreNeed Advice! Do I paint shutters or just remove?
Comments (13)Thank you all for your suggestions and comments!! I have so FAR decided regardless I will add 2 cedar window boxes on first floor, and add 2 larger lights. I took off shutters on the side of house to not make such an eyesore to see how the condition is underneath and how 'off' the color is. (Picture below.) I sprayed it down with water but tomorrow am going to try to scrub with some bleach and separately a vinegar/ baking soda mixture in hopes to match the colors. ANY other suggestions to clean the aluminum siding??...See Moreremove shutters and paint window trim?
Comments (2)Agreed. Definitely remove those shutters. I’d do a new door and match the garage door to it. Pretty house....See MoreTootsie
