How often do you water your roses? Bay Area

I bought myself a dozen David Austin roses last May for Mother's Day (I know - I got a little carried away but I couldn't choose!) and it was my first foray into roses. I mostly watered them every few days with a hose. This week I put down a drip line and thought it would be easier if I put it on a timer. I am in zone 9a with pretty mild weather. Any advice on a starting point about how long and how often? I tend to over love my plants and kill them with kindness (overwatering or over fertilizing). I just get so bored during quarantine that I invent things in the garden that need to be done and sometimes I think I need to back off a bit. ha ha!
