My new anti-vole weapon, I hope, I hope!!!
Comments (13)Teresa emailed me and asked me to post her pics. of the hawk that landed on her deck railing! She's having some problems getting Photobucket to cooperate with her, it appears!! :o) He may be *shopping* but it looks like he might be a vegetarian, instead of a vole hunter! Looks like he's eyeing her tomatoes pretty intensely,to me!!!! Good shots, Teresa---if you look closely at the second one, you can even see the glint in his eye!! I think he was messing with ya! LOL I'm not happy about hawks in my yard!! I love my chips and squirrels and my new little dog, more than those agreeably beautiful creatures of prey!!! I always chase them off, telling them to go *graze* in someone else's restaurant--not mine!!! I know--not the politically correct stance to take in a world of environmentalism gone manic!! I'm all for the balance as per the design, but I also appreciate the fact that I can manage my environment, responsibly, without making it more the priority than human beings and their quality of life and health!!! I'm only adding this to avoid any bashing from those who think some life creature forms are more privileged than others! I am all for their doing what they are designed to do, but if I can protect what I value most on my little 1/2 acre--I will with no guilt!! :o) No question about it--hawks are pretty awesome creatures--just enjoy them most in open fields! Now---if I have a plague of voles--I just might change my mind--I have that right, too, you know!!! ;o)...See MoreExterior help!
Comments (9)I think my someday plan would be to remove the shutters and beef up the window moulding or trim or whatever the correct terminology is, though I am not really sure that is period-appropriate, so I would have to investigate. For now, I would absolutely focus on landscaping. I think you will do the home many favors by investing in adding interest this way. It softens the exterior and makes it feel more organic. When the day comes to replace the roof, you can consider another color and then consider painting the brick, but today is not that day-- so I would say keep the brick as-is. If you are set on painting, I would consider a cream that would be a much, much lighter version of the orange....See MoreFront door, need color advice
Comments (8)What a cute house. I almost missed the shutters and I think you should paint them as well as the door. SW Sea Salt or BM St. Lucia Teal are really pretty colors for your door and then go with black shutters. I would paint the bench white and add some striking blue pillows and you could add some hanging Boston ferns. I would definitely keep your lovely blue pots, as they would compliment the door if you head in that color direction and also consider a hemp rug. I think it will feel very welcoming and calm....See MoreHello! I am hope for some direction in finding an app to try out color
Comments (2)I think both Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams have app to try out colors. I hope you changed the octagon when you got new windows. If it were centered, it would be okay, but off-centered it is a distraction. You can search for your brick on Houzz to get ideas for colors. This is similar to your brick. Since you have a dark roof, I would stay dark. Either Amherst Gray and Blacken Slate would look good....See MoreRelated Professionals
