I think it probably is RMV, but just ignore it and enjoy your rose. It seems less a problem in hot climes.

Thanks for the insight, Shelia and John. Good to know that it seems to have less effect in my zone.

I did notice that growth on this rose is really slow compared to my other hybrid teas and that the coloring starts out with some bleaching on some of the petals as they start to bud and bloom (like some petals form completely white while the majority is still pink). Didn't know if the virus had some effect on this.

My Purple Lodge has RMV and does that too, Glimmer. I try to remove what looks unsightly.

Unless you have your rose tested, you cannot tell which virus (or viruses) your rose has.

One of the more common viruses is aphid spread (and it is apparently widely prevelant in California).

I live in zone 7 and have at least two roses that have RMV, and they are anything but low energy or lacking in hardiness. One is a huge Evelyn over 7 feet tall, so I regard RMV has a cosmetic problem that usually disappears from view when the weather warms. Diane
