Best Methods Of Cleaning Brick and Vinyl Siding
Comments (3)Thanks Barbara, The windows are new, and because I had storm windows with the old wooden-sash windows before, the window frames were all repainted white (they were a horrid avocado green color, before!). I'm pretty sure it's the siding, because if you look at the corners of the house, there's white staining where the corner piece of the siding ends on both sides. Also, along the top row of vertical bricks, there seems to be a lot of build up. I'm just wondering if there are any plant-safe concoctions that will ease cleaning brick, and what the best way of cleaning brick and siding is. I guess there's always the pressure-washing method, but would I need to use a detergent to get this stuff off? Thanks, Nick...See MoreHow do you clean the stains off of vinyl strap pool chairs?
Comments (8)You've probably finished the job already, but this might be helpful for the next person who searches the archives for this info-- Somebody either on GardenWeb or one of the other chat sites recommended Clorox Cleanup Cleaner With Bleach for my similar deck chairs. Worked great (there was a lot of grime on them, not having cleaned them for awhile), and the bleach obviously does its bit, too....See Morehow to get stain off vinyl siding
Comments (21)try these steps for either vinyl siding or decking (as I did) *latex paint - when paint is wet: start with 100% rubbing alcohol and dilute with tap water at max 50/50 on a white cotton rag and wipe surface when paint is dry: use 100% acetone (e.g., nail polish remover) and dilute with tap water at max 50/50, with same type rag vigorously wipe then - since paint will have been spread around (looking like a stain) - use Goo Gone (what I had) and finish the rest until clean, should be now nearly spotless *oil-based paint - for wet or dry oil-based paint, start with 100% acetone (e.g., nail polish remover) and dilute with tap water at max 50/50 on a white cotton rag, vigorously wipe surface if stain from paint is still apparent, use Goo Gone and finish the rest until clean, nearly spotless I tried a lot of different solutions, literally, except for those that research had informed would be ineffective for what I was doing or would damage the surface (powerwashing, abrasive scrubbing with fine steel / plastic type scrubbers) This post was edited by craig1721 on Sat, Oct 18, 14 at 16:05...See Moreremoving deck stain from vinyl siding
Comments (2)I was able tro remove most overspray using a pressure washer with a fine (black I think) nozzle and 2800psi; need to be careful though....See MoreSeabornman
