Inexpensive ideas on updating a bath to be more modern?
Comments (29)Thanks, all, again. As you exit the bath, the kitchen is on your right. It is all one large open room -- thus my concern with the bath colors. nosoccermom: there is little to no grey in the tile. Any grey is just the shadows. If anything, there is a yellow undertone. I've looked at gel staining (for the kitchen) and read about all these disasters in the Kitchen FOrum when people try to do light maple. It makes me very afraid. I found some granite and quartz vanity tops with white sinks in prefab sizes online that may fit. I will check out the local warehouses today. The fortunate thing is that these builder vanities are a standard size, so no custom fabrication is needed. I decided to "Chip It" (the Sherwin Williams app), the photo of the rug and floor. Here's what it came up with. Sturdy Brown seems nice. I'll pick up paint swatches and see how they work with the other elements....See MoreModern mcm dining room update or conversion help
Comments (37)Wow. love your fireplace stone. The more we see of your home, the more I love it. Are you happy with the natural light in your kitchen? If so, I would be tempted to close up the undersized pass through and use the space for some interesting art. I don't love seeing the kitchen from the dining room, and it looks like just a few steps around the wall with the tiny passthrough. How much do you love the drum over the existing table? Your choice, or was it there when you bought the home. I only ask because I think it's oversized for the existing table. And, if you love it, I would look for a different table, with a larger prescence and different shape....See MoreSeeking layout suggestions for a warm, uncluttered front living room
Comments (62)I’d put my dining room in that space and turn your old dining room into an office and add some glass doors to your new office (old dining room). That way you can set up a dedicated space for your homeschooling. You don’t need two living rooms back to back. Put your piano against the stair wall where the guitars currently are. Put your dining room hutch on the 13’4” wall and hang the guitars on the other wall space (opposite the front windows). Hang your guitars so they are like artwork....big one in the middle and smaller ones on either side. Paint the chair rail white and all the wall space below the same white as well. This will help to blend your heaters. Paint above the chair rail a warm grey colour. Benjamin Moore Collingwood is one example and a google search will come up with other popular colors. One last suggestion is to get some full length curtains to frame those windows. Black and white check curtains will give that room a farmhouse feel.
