At this point I would call the company and ask for a refund. The odor should have been gone by now, and there is really nothing more you can do that I know of.

Ok Here's the question. Why should one spend what seems to be a good deal of money for a 8" foundation for either a 3" firm Latex or Memory foam topper? Why wouldn't a good firm inexpensive 8" foam base work? After all you're really only sleeping on the topper. I don't see the point of expensive custom multi-layering. I priced a Talalay latex mattress and the 8" queen size foundation was over $2000 and the 3" topper was only around $400. Both were the same firmness so what was I getting with a $2000 base? Even with Memory foam there's all sorts of pricey combinations but in the end there's the 2" or 3" topper your sleeping on. What does the base really do other than support the topper? (And yes I've read about the air flow foundation advantage but it seems a little far fetched to me...) Also does anyone know where I can purchase a good reasonable 8" foundation for a platform bed?

Never posted on this forum, usually I'm over in Kitchens. But I just had to give you my 2 cents. We had a memory foam mattress, it ended up being returned after about 20 months. The depressions were horrible. Also, the foam didn't breathe, and we were so hot at night. We ended up going to the Sealy Spring Free latex mattress. It is the best thing we could have done. It was more money, but it really is fantastic. We aren't hot anymore, it supports you in the places where you need it. I highly recommend it. The most important piece of advice I read while mattress shopping was to remember that the mattress is NOT a luxury item. It is utilitarian, it is meant to serve a purpose. You can make it look luxurious by adding your bedding to it, but it's purpose is to help you get a good night's sleep and wake up with no back pain! This is why we didn't go for a pillow top or anything that was so soft and "luxurious". I found a lot of good information on this website. Even though the guy who writes it sells mattresses, he is so honest in his answers. And it seems as much as he would love to sell a mattress to you, he wants consumers to be informed and really doesn't seem to mind if you are buying elsewhere. So check it out. Good luck! Just to add. The link that Beekeeperswife gave you is really good. I actually called Peter about 4 years ago and he was very helpful. He told me NOT to buy a mattress but to try a topper, which we did (the memory foam one). It got us an extra year and I was impressed that he didn't try to steer us into buying a mattress. Seemed like an honest guy. After I bought my latex (which is organic Dunlop BTW-the firmer type) I contacted him again about my back problems. He told me that I should have bought a different mattress after explaining my problems. Well, too late for me. I would give him a call and speak directly to him for some ideas. I still can't figure out if I need a firmer bed or what is the problem. I do know that it is important to tell people how you sleep (back, stomach, side). I lie on my side. I am 53 so I don't know if it's just years of conditioning my back to a firmer mattress. I also have a lordoctic spine so I feel like a softer mattress just lets the back become more lordoctic. Very impt. to always buy where you can get a refund. I know Bloomingdales has great mattress sales in January and I think they may allow returns. Savvy allowed exchanges, but not refunds and they feel the slant or sag isn't deep enough. So we are stuck. But my bed also came in layers as someone else described and it weighs a ton. Also, I think the Sealy Spring free is not natural latex and I know Peter recommends it. A mattress topper in firm would be my choice for now for you. Remember, the firm softens up. It really is a crap shoot. I was thinking of the bed that has air in it. Running out of ideas myself!
