Thanks so much everyone. I don't think it is a price concern as much as it is one of being able to see and enjoy the glass tile, and worrying whether or not it is going to pop off or crack. For example, while I think vicki's pool is very beautiful, the only spots I can really see as the glass tile being very visible is on the elevated spa and spillover (which I do not have). On the waterline, it is kind of hard to see, and you can't really tell that it is iridescent glass tile. Of course, it could be just the photo, or the angle, and it might be stunning in person - which is what matters. That is one of my main concerns... I am meeting with the PB tomorrow and think I will get his thoughts on it. Maybe if he does not have an installer with lots of glass tile experience, I would be better off just using it as accents. All thoughts and opinions are much appreciated!

Sorry for the late response. To answer the first question, yes, the coping overhangs on both sides. It does not seem to bother anyone that has gone in the spa. I actually like it cause I can rest my head on it when relaxing. As with all concrete, there is one tine crack on it...You have to really look for it though. No breaking though. I actually have more cracks on the coping surrounding the pool. To answer the second question. The coping is about 18" wide. It's a different color than the rest of the decking. The decking has no pink in it at all and the coping has a very light tone in it. It turned out looking really well together though. The pours were from two different contractors, which means the stamp was slightly different. We had them use a slate stamp, but on the decking the impressions were much deeper and bigger than on the coping. I have some pictures posted in a web gallery if you want to take a look Web Pics> -D

Ground movement will have a more visible impact on cantelever patios. It would not make it more likely to crack however if prepped and poured properly. If they follow the directions in the box on how to treat the bondbeam it works well. If you have highly expansive soils, you can nominalize movement with deeper gravel in the subgrade.

Hey there - Thanks for the kind words. Our pool cover is by Coverstar. We have SWG, Pebblesheen in Ocean Blue, and the tiles are Jeffrey Court glass tiles in Tahoe Blue, I think. Boy, it's funny how you obsess over these things and a year later can't remember everything very clearly. The spa surround is a natural stone - I think the stone yard called it Carmel Stone. I believe it must be a type of limestone. The thing I appreciate about it is that it never gets hot. All the concrete work was done by our landscape contractor. Thank goodness for him - he saved us many times during our pool process! We have not had issues with corrosion. We did have to clean out the pool cover trough - take off the heavy concrete slabs - and vacuum out all the leaves and debris that was piling up over the year from being blown in there. We also had to tighten all the screws on the roller. The cover wasn't working properly and was making a horrible sound. We took a look and saw everything was coming undone. Don't know if it was poor installation of the screws initially - but at least it was an easy fix we could figure out and do ourselves.
