Moon Flower vs White MG - Confussion
Comments (4)Thank you, Ron! This MG has gone to town since the first few blooms. I really loved it and I'd like to have it again. I hope I can find seeds. We are finally going to freeze this week and there is no sign of any seed pods, so I won't get any from this one. This has been blooming night and day, so I was beginning to wonder if it really was some form of Moonflower. I'm sure it's the crazy "still in the 70's during the day in Oct" weather. Nov now and it has been quite a show. Not something I'm used to in MO. Here are pictures of it at 7:00 PM at night. It was completely dark and it was like this at midnight this same night This was 1:00 PM in the afternoon on a different day ...See MoreShoji White with knotty pine paneling?
Comments (12)Is your husband an expert in color or interior design or an artist? Does he really believe he knows better than all the experts and designers? There are a dozen blog sites written by people who spend their lives learning about paint color and they all say the same thing about white in a room without really good lighting. ------------------------------------ "This is a great question and the answer is, if you don’t have enough light streaming in your house for most parts of the day, then white is not the best idea. What will happen instead is your walls will look gray and dingy because the shadows all on their own will simply cause your white walls to appear gray." Maria Killam ---------------------------------------- "Why Can’t I Paint a Dark Room Bright White? The most counter-intuitive tip is that you need lots of light for white paint to look good. If you have a dark room, white gets shaded in the corners and turns into a dingy gray." Color Concierge --------------------------------------------- "Design Mistake #3: Painting a Small, Dark Room White" - Emily Henderson ------------------------------------------- I have been painting for over 50 years and studying interior paint colors for the past 20 years. I say do not paint the room white with great confidence. I understand how white works and when it works well. I often share the following information when someone wants white and it is a bad idea. . . HOW WHITE WORKS White needs light to look good...See MoreSherwin Williams Pearly White

Comments (6)Can someone who understands all the color numbers give me a comparison in layman’s terms of Shoji White vs Aesthetic white? I’m looking for a warm white for an exterior, that leans towards cream without being stark white or having too many obvious undertones. I empathize so much with homeowners and totally understand why it's hard to figure out the undertone color theory. The inconsistency and chaos in the din of voices talking about color on the internet is overwhelming. The reason why is because undertones are just someone's subjective opinion of what they think a color looks like - to them - under a random, undefined light source. Bottom line is they're all making it up as they go moment by moment, color by color. Color notations are factual and based on the exact same color science that is used to make and manage color - across the globe for every industry you can name. And just like using a clock to tell time, you have to learn how to read the numbers. Comparing Shoji White and Aesthetic White is good place to start. Because as we can see from the numbers, they're very similar across the board. EXCEPT in terms of Chroma. That's where they differ the most. Shoji has a Chroma of 0.84 which is more than Aesthetic White's Chroma of 0.73. What that tells us is Shoji is more colorful. Aesthetic White is grayer and more neutral in comparison. Because you said you're looking for a warm white for an exterior, that leans towards cream, I would choose Shoji White because it has more Chroma, is more colorful....See MoreCelery.
