Backsplash help decision help needed for my kitchen.
Hello everyone,
I've been looking for an idea to finalize my kitchen for a year.
The backsplash has not yet chosen. I have tried a lot of samples.
There are many articles, which say what is in and out for 2020. Metro tiles are everywhere, glass tiles are out, don't mix the patterns too much ... It's very difficult to know what to take.
Sometimes you find something, but you can't know where to get it.
I am not very daring by nature when it comes to decoration.
The counter and white slightly veined. The upper cabinets are matt white. But testing with white tiles makes three kinds whites together. This gives a look that does not seem harmonious to the eyes. Or else, tiles with marble, gives a look of having two different types of stone juxtaposed. And the white of the marble comes out gray next to the white of the counter.
As I do not have the eye of a decorator, any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

Here is an example of a kitchen that I liked on the Houzz site. Which I discussed with the owner. After verification, the tile is not available in Canada.
I find that the look is pleasing to the eye.
Another one that gives a big contrast, but maybe the black could be more like the gray of the floor.

3 years agoIt seems like you are drawn to smaller, mosaic like patterns. I think that is too busy for your beautiful kitchen. I think that stacked white tile would look the best and would enhance the calm and clean feeling of your space. Something like this:

Quick help needed on backsplash and doorway decision
Comments (4)I can't comment re: counter size/projection itself, but will say that the backsplash should be the width of the counter. Re what another poster wrote: And that tile as a backsplash will be difficult to clean. We used split-face mosaic tile in our hall bathroom. We don't have kids, but that is the bathroom DH uses. I don't go in there to wipe up after him constantly (I clean the bathrooms weekly, and in-between, will wipe down the sink, or clean the soap dish if it's scummy, as needed). I sealed the backsplash tile well, and after almost two years of using the bathroom, the tile looks as good as it did the day it was installed. I wipe it down with wet damp or wet microfiber cloth after I've cleaned the sink or tub. Once in a while I'll spray the backsplash with the same cleaner I use on the tub surround (7th Generation Disinfecting Bathroom cleaner spray), and then wipe dry. Comments (6)I have noticed that quite a few people are using the same granite on the backsplash as on the countertops, which is a very clean modern look. Not sure if this would appeal to her more than tile though, just something to toss out there, for what its worth. Otherwise, I agree the enhanced Noce subway tile would look best. Comments (29)I let out barely audible gasp when I saw those tiles, Sweeby. I love them! And I think I might love them even more, as Alku says, in a very muted gray. Or a combination of the two. And Alku, I agree about the iffy-ness of matching up the whites. One thing I wish I could do as you did -- is to find the same $$ deal on tiles. What a steal, lucky you. I want to do my backsplash and get it over with. Ann Sacks and Jeffrey Court are out of my league, but if I can keep the price at near $25/ft, I'll be OK. Well, I have NO IDEA what the install prices are. Can anyone give me some idea of what to expect? Do you think $15/ft is in the ballpark? I'm drawn to the marble combinations in the mosaic, Sweeby. It's soft looking. Do you think I could pull that off in 4x4s? The shop where I got my marble carries Jeffrey Court. Maybe I could convince them to give me a contractor's price since they've been using me as their cheerleader for using marble in the kitchen. Another great option for a modern space would be while solid surface or backpainted sheet glass.Tiny mosaic tiles tend to look busy - I get it if you want something eye catching, but you might want that on a larger scale

Floor or wall ceramic tile with old-world vibe, in gray-beige finish with imitation scuff marks for added charm. Each tile is accented by 4 faux tiles with scoured grout lines.

3 years agoLove your kitchen layout ! In my opinion, don’t choose a dark tile . Would interfere with the wood , would Make the room dark. lighten it up with tiles that are light . I would do a 3 x 12 ceramic subway tile in white but find the ones with a texture instead of a flat typical subway tile you see everywhere . I love the stacking on top instead of staggering them. Stacking on top makes it more modern and clean. Go with a grout that’s white . Def can see that happening in this kitchen. Good luck though and have fun :)

3 years agoAnna, what is the product number on your photo. I like the textured. I have already done a test with flat tiles.
For a purer white, I find that a brilliant white is whiter, and that a matt white comes out gray.I like stacking, it's true that it's modern. What do you think of this positioning of the tiles.
