Freeze Protection -Opinions Wanted
Comments (9)The last almost freeze we had 2 weeks ago or so I used thick clear plastic on some plants, 5 gallon buckets on others, and even a big metal wash tub over others because I had nothing else handy. These probably aren't ideal and probably wouldn't work in a prolonged freeze, but all my plants came through 2 35-36 degree nights with next day warm ups swimmingly and many have clusters of blooms right now. So, in short, get some heat trapped under something and the warmish temps and warm soil should be enough to protect in these very cold, but not quite freezing temps, imo....See MoreOpinions on a quote.
Comments (4)Thanks for the opinions sktn77a , tigerdunes and energy-rater_la. i am not sure why the builder asked the HVAC guys to go with electric system when I told my builder that we can use natural gas for HVAC. Not sure why three systems and I did ask him for the manual j load calculation, which he said he will provide me. We are inland, Tallahassee to be specific. Any more suggestions or questions I should be asking my builder or HVAC guys. Please help....See MoreOpinions needed asap please on this CL bedroom suite
Comments (21)Well, you found what some suspected, that it wasn't an extremely "good" set. Now, Costco/Sam's Club furniture can be just what the doctor ordered and many people are quite pleased with their purchases. I have a tv armoire in my bedroom that was an 'assemble it yourself' piece from Sauder I bought ten years ago for like $99 new. It has worked fine for us for many years. But right now, I would love to find a good solid wood piece that will stand the test of time and fit my style better. For that, I must do used, like CL or estate sale or garage sale. The great thing about going to check on something like that (overpriced!) bedroom suite, is, that it gives you a better feel for the next one you find. It helps you know what questions to ask and to price things out in your head better. I rarely feel a trip was not worthwhile, even when it's a No-Buy. Usually, if I spend the time to travel across town for craigslist stuff, I only feel cheated if the seller badly misrepresented or if I didn't ask enough questions first. And sometimes, I do ask, "So do you remember where you bought the armoire?" or "how long have you had this piece?" If someone tells me Costco or JCPenney, I know it's probably not just what I thought from the photo. If they just bought it, then, why are they selling it? I hope your next set is the real deal. And while you do NOT want to haggle down the price on the phone, it's still ok to just ask, "Before I come see, is your price real firm?" or "I do want to see it, are you negotiable at all on the price?" Don't make an offer, just feel them out. Red...See MoreChaise Lounges
Comments (13)I have seen many in bedrooms on design links. Depends upon the room, decor and what one would use it for. Had one in my living room. Not a back recliner. But as others mentioned, people always shied away from it...except for the grown kids and myself. I ended up reconstructing and cut the end off. Surprisingly easy. Used the existing feet and finished off the edges with fabric from lounge extension into a big comfy chair. Had a large ottoman which was same size, different, but go to matching fabric. Works the same as a lounge if wanted, but can be moved around for more welcoming seating. Having a chaise lounge made me stay away from couches with them. They probably have their use, but doesn't work for me....See Moreerinsean
