Used Sub Zero- how old is too old
Comments (9)Lafacia, this may help: 20 years ago we put one of the smallest size SZs in when we bought our house. Ten years later, we reno'd the kitchen and replaced it with another slightly larger SZ. The old one went into storage in the garage, where it sat with the spiders for another ten years. A year ago, we pulled it out of the garage, cleaned off the spiderwebs, and set it up on the porch to handle overflow for a party. It works just fine - to the point that I so loved having the extra space, we've just kept it on. Had the SZ maintenance guy come out and check it out -- got a clean bill of health, didn't have to do a thing for it other than clean off the condensers. I'm now planning a new house, and plan to put a SZ in that one too. I think you'd have to pry my SZ out of my cold dead hands at this point . The only thing I can tell you that the new ones do better on is energy efficiency. Would I buy a used one? Yep, I probably would. HTH.......See MoreHow old is too old to wear jeans?
Comments (69)You know, I remember when only farmers wore jeans or denim. It was prohibited in high school by our dress code, even. Now they are everywhere! OK, I'm way out of my league here, LOL. I don't have enough clothes to wait weeks between wearings. I used to have office/work clothes and farm clothes and nothing in between. Now I have no use for business suits and that single pair of black pumps that I wore with everything. I'm 5'2" and do not have long legs. I also have a big bust and short waist, no jeans look good on me, they either come up to my ribcage or they fall off my butt (or both, I can't figure out how that works) I hate 'em all but I'm far more likely to go with jeans that feel less awful (none are comfortable) than choose them based on how they look. Since I'm retired my wardrobe now consists of one pair of Carhartt sweat pants, two pairs of dress slacks, one pair of capri pants, half a dozen assorted t shirts, both long and short sleeved, a couple of long sweater/cardigans and a zip up sweatshirt (black) and you have my entire wardrobe. I never wear jewelry other than my wedding ring, I haven't put on a pair of earrings in years, I didn't even wear them to Ashley's wedding. Shoes? I have one pair of black Avia sneakers, one pair of muck boots (also black and not the $100 ones either, the $11 ones from Tractor Supply, goes with everything, even those maroon Carhartt sweatpants), one pair of snow boots, one pair of white flip flops and one pair of black Skecher flats. Although I've been to Chico's, I've never been able to actually spend what they want for clothes, regardless of size. In spite of my completely non-existent fashion sense and my woefully inadequate wardrobe, which I did not realize was woefully inadequate until this very instant, I still don't think you're ever too old to wear jeans, if you want to wear 'em. And yes, I realize that a very large percentage of my woefully inadequate wardrobe is black. I like black, it goes with everything and I don't have to think about matching, I'll wear it until they invent a darker color.... Annie...See MoreHow old is too old to trick or treat?
Comments (37)When I walked my kids around, I would put out a bowl and a cute little sign saying to take 1 or 2, or whatever. They did! Except one year, we were on our way out when I heard some boys take the whole bowl. I flew out the door, they stopped short of the end of the walkway and sheepishly put it back. I was especially surprised because we KNOW them! My sons quit going out after 8th grade, but this year DS wanted to dress up as a ghoul and have a "haunted porch", I think he missed the TorT! Sadly, it was not only cold and windy, but there was a young-kids party nearby and he looked too scary, so I had him hold off till the older kids came 'round. But by then it was misty, too, so the goblins stayed in. I I don't mind the older kids, as long as they dress up with at least a bit of effort or creativity and SAY Trick or Treat! We had two dancers about 14yrs, very sparkly. When I admired them, they said they had a dance too. It was cute, definitely earned them extra treats!...See MoreHow old is 'too old' for paint?
Comments (12)If it has never been opened, it should be ok. The only way it ages in a sealed can is by slow loss of solvent if the seal is not perfect and by settling. A good shaking at your local hardware store should mix it up well. Here's what to do. Prep your doors; Take one door off and lay it on your fixture for painting the first side. Shake the paint. Get a test scrap of wood. Open the can and test on the scrap piece. If it spreads ok and the color is right, start on the doors. If the paint is spoiled, get a new can of paint and continue....See Moreshivece
