Did the weather forecast really say SNOW?
Comments (12)We have snow on the ground right now. It is + .4 degrees.celsius which would be about 33 for those of you on Farhenheit. It has been just the crappiest day ever with high winds and either blowing snow or rain all day. We sat eating our Mother's Day lunch looking at the snow blowing outside the restaurant! Fortunately it hasn't cleared off yet like they said it would. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it stays cloudy and windy so no frost settles. I covered all of my hostas, some grasses, my tree peony and as many of my true lilies as I could. My daylilies are on their own I am afraid. Too many to even think about covering. Tomorrow night is supposed to be the same so I think I will just leave it all there. Here's hoping none of us get any frost tonight or tomorrow night! Debbie...See MoreDaily Support Mon. Comments (36)Good Thursday all, It is a beautiful crystal clear day. AND it's warmer than it's been in a while. 21 degrees for morning chores which feels so warm. We too are supposed to get a touch of January thaw here today and tomorrow. I am watching Mr. & Mrs. Cardinal at the bird feeder outside my office window...love is definitely in the air. I have two male turkeys in the flock that visits me in the winter and they are both fanning and talking. The grey squirrels are cavorting outside now and will be mating soon. I love this confirmation that spring is truly around the corner even when it's snowy, icy and freezing! The days are noticeably a little longer at at both ends now too. Tikanis you definitely need to schedule a just me day every week! I am leaving tomorrow morning for Augusta, Maine for a horseman's conference for the weekend. I will be getting a major horse fix AND I have scheduled a massage for myself at the terrific spa that is at my hotel. I want to try to rid my body of the toxins from the pneumonia. I can't wait. I am going with two girlfriends so we should have a good time. I have a feeling there is a lobster or two in my future! When in Maine one simply must indulge in all of the lobster they can possibly eat! It's a well known fact that it is better in Maine than anywhere else! Dee, why is the fox at your window? Is someone feeding him? Does your fox look like my fox?? What a gift for you. I hope you enjoy watching him/her. QOD: Did anyone who made the mug cakes for gifts get reviews yet?? I have gotten a rave from each niece/nephew that received them! It was a good one and a keeper to give again....See MoreSpring begins Feb. 11th...... for me
Comments (27)Ron, I'll show you mine if you show me yours. *wink* Truth is, this is my dad's - taken in June 2006 the day we had the plastic put on. We had the skeleton up for six years or so before we got the plastic up. Now it will likely be another six years before he does anything with the inside. We've debated heaters and ventilation systems, what to grow and when...my family is mainly just "talkers." We all talk about what we're gonna do ______________ (fill in the blank: next week, next month, next spring, next year, someday). LOL! I'd love to see your pictures. Maybe it will inspire me to get my butt outta this chair, drive the five minutes to Pop's house, and do something in that big old honkin' greenhouse....See MoreDecember 11th, still planting in the Great Lakes.
Comments (23)Thanks everyone for the replies. I got all my seedlings planted, I'm really not worried about them as they are so small and had good roots. I noticed as I was gathering volunteer seedlings, some of the buds on the Picea abies had opened and new foliage was emerging, needless to say I didn't pick those ones, I planted the ones with the tightest looking buds. Right now it's in the mid 50s in the morning, I checked accuweather and my location's average temp for this is 13F above average so far and climbing, and last month was 8 above average....See Moremmmm12COzone5
