Comments (14)Dream, I live in a new house, (13 years). Before moving to Arkansas we lived in Louisiana in a Victorian we spent years restoring. It was hard to leave(my DH's job was the reason)but time marches on. The house never even went on the market, someone bought it right away and I sold over half the things in it. I tried to work a lot of things into this house, but have even thinned it down a lot since then. I tell you would thing I do not miss is freezing to death in the winter and giant utility bills. My new house is so cozy and efficient. Like you, that house was a dream of mine and I'm glad I did it while I was younger because it consumed every minute of mine and DH's time. I'm really happy here and make the most of my new house and little yard. I'll post more pics of things later, mean while check out the pics on photobucket, there are a few of other rooms. It's fun having another Victorian fan on the forum, thanks. Comments (22)There are a few Duro patterns that come up there, although not a lot. There are also some brick and mortar retailers that carry it - mostly NY, LA, Chicago. Another Swedish paper company has retailers in (I don't quite get it but) Dallas and Boise. If I find something specific, I'm probably going to be e-mailing to see who has WHAT. And what order lead times are. Possibly they are quite long. Thibaut was another good suggestion with some potential, as I page through their designs. Defintely looking like it's worth my while to order swatches from a few companies and compare. ;-)...See MoreEntryway Mirror?
Comments (13)Your entry looks great! Good ideas already … I also like many that Anthropologie sells. Example: https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/gleaming-primrose-mirror6?color=027&recommendation=pdp-rightRail-sfrectray-pdprightrailsimilaritems&type=STANDARD&size=One%20Size&quantity=1 They have many I think would look great. https://www.anthropologie.com/mirrors Uttermost has a nice selection of mirrors, too. https://www.build.com/uttermost-12730-b/s70505?uid=821616&searchId=fCM4sQZd0N https://www.build.com/uttermost-13887/s1229116?uid=2944070&searchId=fCM4sQZd0N https://www.uttermost.com/Marlo-Round-Mirror-08137/ I don’t know your budget or exact size needed, so these are just general ideas of shapes and styles. I think something with a touch of glam, touch of modern, but with a vintage feel, would look fantastic. Comments (22)This is what I see right now. My eye always goes up from the TV (under lower right side of pic.) I cropped off the bottom because there is a bunch of stuff I am storing in the area right now. It could be that the line of crown moulding is messing with my head. I want to beef that up and paint it white. (I will beef it up by adding trim under it but it won’t add depth.) The wall color will also be much lighter. Here is a sample of what I think the crown moulding will look like when I’m finished: I love the metal wall sculpture. It won’t be leaving anytime soon. The light fixture was one of my first purchases, and I got the fan to go with it. Sort of an ”industrial farmhouse” look because it worked with the brick of the fireplace. So all hardware and fixtures and art are staying for now. I can play with paint and see if that changes how I feel about that corner. The furnishings and floor don’t annoy me. Just the ceiling and that outside corner and the closed-in 7’ wall that has the TV on it. What you don’t see is the entry into the living room. It is tiny. I need to keep a thruway open in that space (lower right corner of diagram). (Beverly, I just noticed you removed a wall. That is staying. there is a staircase behind it. The opening to the living room is a 34” wide opening at the bottom right of the diagram. However… that wall runs parallel to the joists, I think. So it may be just that it needs a support post at the base of the staircase. Maybe I could once again consider opening up that staircase wall, and keeping the post in place. I didn’t want to install a new beam to support the upper level, but that wall may not have support beams. This is similar to how the open staircase would look, but one post would go to the ceiling and the other would be normal height and up one tread. All 13 steps would likely show. I still would need some open space in front of that wall. I don’t need much furniture - dogs love open rug space.) I’ll revisit this after the room is cleared and some temporary paint is up....See Moresuzchaps
