There are many wonderful things that you can grow in shade. My favorites are Huchera (coral bells), which come in an incredible range of colors and are evergreen in zone 7. My favorites are Peach Melba, Lime Ricky and Plum Pudding. Hosta's are a staple for the shade and there are tons of choices. Ferns are beautiful too, my favorite is the Japanese Painted Fern ~ ~ ~ the Tassel Fern has wonderful texture. For flowering plants try Astilbe, Dwarf Goatsbeard, Tuberous Begonia (dig up and store over winter) Japanese Anemone, Solomon Seal, shade tolerant Hardy Geranium, Pulmonaria and Tierella. Then fill in with annuals like Impatiens. White Impatiens really pop in shade. There are many other wonderful shade tolerant plants, but these are some of my favorites in my 50x50 foot shade garden. You have a ton of choices for the shade!

We went with a full size bed. our DS didn't need it, but Mom and Dad did......He went through a period of needing someone to lay down with him to fall asleep during the night terror times. So we upsized to ensure if we were laying down with him and happened to fall asleep, we might get a couple hours of decent rest, rather than hanging off the side of a twin..... And he loves the big bed, can share with his cousin if they have a sleep over.

I love reading all the replies. Thanks!!!!! We are definitely going with the twin. My Mom reminded me that she has one; it's cute. So, we are using it. We will have to purchase the mattress and bedding but it won't be as much as an investment as originally. PBK has bedding that I really like but I hear that the quality is not as good. Any thoughts on other brands I should check out?

Keep in mind that guests will have suitcases and need a place to open them and maybe bedside tables big enough to store clothes in. I don't leave my toothbrush in a bathroom, so they need room to place toiletries and things like that. My experience is that no more than two adults ever share a room, except maybe parents and older teens or young 20-somethings, when there is NO other option. Once people start to snore, only their life partner is willing to put up with that noise. Two adults (a couple) need a QUEEN size bed or two XL twins, together or with a table between them or separated. Two adults (friends) need two XL twin beds. I like the idea for one queen or two twin beds with the IKEA mattresses stored under. I love sleeping on a mattress on the floor because there is great support. And it can go back under the bed for more walking and dressing room during the day.
