Has anyone ever used spray "stone" paint?

Good morning, my crafty pals. I need your help. I'm trying to create a stone look on an object for my dollhouse. I've purchased rustoleum stone spray paint in a pale sand color. But the paint is textured and I'm worried about losing details and an overall shaggy look that can't be sanded easily. I'm worried it may look like cooked oatmeal.

Here is the object (It will be primed later with Kilz blocking primer).

I'm scared to mess it up and I don't want to press my luck trying to make another basket and roses. Any ideas for a better product? I've seen spray chalk paint (but never tried it.)

I think you guys are right about the details. I just primed it with a very fine brush and still, some of the flowers lose definition. The spray paint will definitely overwhelm the details. I’m thinking of doing several coats in this primer since it has a chalky feel and adding just a hint of gray to the final kilz primer coat. Maybe?

Jo.. I did use this stuff a few years ago. It was on some real cheapo plastic outdoor planting urns. It looked pretty good.. especially from a distance. LOL.

I would worry that you'll lose some of the fine detail, especially on the basket. Can you test it out on something else first?

I used it for an outdoor project and it was perfect.; looked like stone and outlasted the item itself. However, I'd also be concerned about losing detail with your project.

I would try it on the old set first while I kept looking for an ORB one I liked better. I haven't had much luck with hardware other than the odd cabinet pull when it comes to spray painting them. I don't know that I would do the trim ring around the sink either, it may just draw more attention to itself that way.

Our builder wants to use Kwal Paint and we have never heard of it. Has anyone ever used it and is it a good quality paint? He had originally said he was going to use Sherwin Williams but now says Kwal, so I'm trying to find out about this brand of paint.

I have Conestoga cabinets and added a Rev-A-Shelf under the sink. It was a bit iffy if the options Conestoga had available would fit, so GC and I decided to buy locally once the cabinet, sink, etc was installed. I wouldn't expect you'd have issues with aftermarket Rev-A-Shelf as long as the kitchen is designed around the specs. Also wanted to give a high-five, because that was my main inspiration pic too! Love it!

I also used it to spray an outdoor planter, and it worked nicely, but agree it probably wouldn't work well with the scale of your object. I think you could get away just using a paint technique, as there is already good texture on the dog and basket. Here's one approach that's accomplished by spattering different shades of stone colored paint.faux stone pots

I would spray and then use a dental tool (or similar) to remove some of the excess in the grooves.
