Can you suggest a neutral paint color for me?
Comments (16)I have ACE Snickerdoodle and love it, Michigan Dunes, the color one darker down the strip is nice too. I think Ace Barley and Summer's Tan are great too - a tad more yellowy, maybe. I also just used Ace Flat Sensations (they're washable flat line with Scotchguard in it) and it looks great. After curing a month supposedly I will be able to wipe it down and anything on it will come right off - spag. sauce, crayons, dirt, lipstick (don't know exactly how that would get there, but even anything oil based will come right off, I'm told!) I also liked SW Muslin and an old SW Martha Stewart color called Pannier is lovely. HTH, kpk...See MoreHelp! Beige/Tan bathroom paint color suggestions?
Comments (6)Thanks chefmom! I have to check out a swatch of Barely Beige in person but I think it might be a little lighter than what we want. I'm still loving Shaker Beige, but not sure it's the "right" beige for the colors in our bathroom. The same for Everlasting. I think the others I mentioned are probably too dark for a small space with little natural light. Please keep the opinions/suggestions coming! Thanks!...See MoreAny suggestions on exterior neutral paint colors?
Comments (15)Sorry I didn't have the opportunity to answer last night. I think that your stone looks much less warm because of the beige currently next to the stone. Color is never isolated, it plays with the colors surrounding it. It is also better to look at color from a bit of a distance. To make your final decision, use the painted samples that you have and tape them 2 at a time to the garage door. Step back, decide which of the two you like best and then replace your least favorite with your next sample. Leave a bit of distance between the two samples. For neutrals, because their undertones can be so sneaky, I paint large samples. 12x118 or larger. I like to use 140 lb watercolor paper - it doesn't get warped and has a nice tooth to it. If it is a bit curled I place a piece of parchment over it and iron it flat. https://www.michaels.com/canson-xl-watercolor-pad/M10145805.html I would also suggest reading a review by kylie m interiors on SW gray-greige. https://www.kylieminteriors.ca/sherwin-williams-best-gray-greige-paint-colours/ Always find her advice on paint colors to be dead on. To do my own evaluation of your stone and paint colors I took a screenshot of the stone and copy/pasted it into excel. I then pulled the RGB values from the SW web site. I entered those numbers into Easy RGB and took snapshots of the convert page from Easy RGB for each color and placed it next to the stone screenshot. . Of the samples I personally like Modern Gray and Wordly Gray. I love Versatile Gray in the photo, but I tend toward taupes which means that this could go pink. The hue measurement shows that It is on the brink of having pink/purple undertones. Please understand that every computer monitor is different, so machine comparisons are never as good as real painted samples, but it can give you direction. If you like something but it is just a bit off you can use tools like Easy RGB to find a similar color that is just a little lighter, a little less green or a little more gray....See MoreLiving room color scheme- need inspiration!
Comments (39)The word here is INTENT Jinx, Beth has no intent but to help the op.. . When you post multiple threads on the very same topic, it is no different than a "dupe" . Your answers become confusing, you have to check all your posts ! Another reader, whether gen pop or Pro, has no clue there are two OTHER posts! If you started another because your thread was getting no more replies? All you have to do to revive it is post another COMMENT. On that same thread! I like, I don;t like, etc. Is there a law that prevents starting a new thread? Of course not, but it defeats your intent..........which is to get help. . Intent: Design involves intent. A point of view, and purpose. When an OP says: : "I cannot decide how I want to do my living room." they are simply saying'" I'm LOST" They are saying they haven't got a clear intent in style, color , feel.....anything. In this case, the op has a sofa and cocktail table. End story. Why blue curtains, and that rug? I don't know why. The op probably doesn't know either. Rather than police comments? Break down the process for the OP. Suggest a pecking order for the lost. Take DOWN the blue curtains. Please. The room is not yet ready for them. In any color. Find an 8 x 10 rug that acknowledges the sofa/sectional in some way. A bit of that tone in the rug. .......it has to be something you really like. Come back to THIS thread, and post what you found. YOU have to decide......and you must begin somewhere, You don't begin with paint. You don't begin with curtains. You give yourself a road map to follow. The rug you have relates to nothing in tone, it is too small. Start with a rug. Come back....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
