Deck furniture placement
Hi Everyone, we are trying to furnish the deck at our new house and have some tight spaces we're working with and trying to get the best use out of the space. The deck is very wide 25 1/2 feet but not very deep, only 9 ft 10 in. Currently, we have a grill and hammock already on the deck, the hammock takes up a good amount of space and can be placed somewhere off the deck if need be but we'd like to try and incorporate it in. We'd like to find a way to fit a minimum 6 person, maybe 8 person dining table without constricting the walkway and giving room for people to get into their seats. We're open to any shape table. We prefer the swivel style dining seats. We've thought to use the corners or have a table scooted against the outer wall and have it pulled out when in use, but that isn't ideal and may look tacky. We'd also like to have a sectional couch/sitting area, possibly with 1-2 recliners or a chaise/lounger looking out into the backyard. We've looked at sectional dining combos which might be the last resort, we'd prefer a seating area separate from a dining area. Please let me know your thoughts on how to best design this space? We are open to new ideas and appreciate your help!

Comments (2)Find an interior designer, ideally one who is certified, not a decorator. Designers have real training in space planning, color theory, etc. I work with a designer who charges by the hour for consultations. Her hourly fee is 150 but she is very efficient and has saved me thousands with her advice. It's well worth it. Glad you are considering a pro. Comments (7)Oh dear. Now I see why the confusion. Husband wasn’t quite finished with the build of fireplace when I took the picture. In this picture you can see fireplace better With the side boxes. It will have two side boxes...one for fire wood. One for the grill and tools stored inside the box. But you are correct, many places near house to put the grill. Then carry food to wherever we put an eating table. The issue with the patio near house is there is bright hot sun especially summer evenings, and it obstructs our beautiful view from inside the house. Comments (4)I have a similar layout and right now have sofa where your chairs are and chairs on the sofa side arranged around an asymmetric coffee table. I also have poufs for additional seating. It isn’t perfect, but it is makes my family happy for now. New furniture to arrive next summer is a large, deeply kidney-shaped sofa on the same (window) wall that will loop around to face the fireplace, same coffee table, and a big (2-person) round chair down to the right of the fireplace, widening the room. We are also having floor-to-ceiling wood storage installed to the right of the fireplace. Draw something like this or lay out big pieces of paper on the floor to simulate layout? Minus the big chair (use your current ones instead opposite a leas dramatically curbed sofa?), I bet it would work for you!...See More
