running bond tile pattern - out dated?
Comments (6)Nice. Great tile. Oh good, that was my instinct and so I'm sticking with it! Running bond up to height of accent border, then diamond up to ceiling, then running bond on ceiling with maybe one diamond where the light fixture would go? I think I saw that in one of the Bill or Mongo finished shower pics. LOVE the large niche, BTW. I wonder if my contractor will be annoyed with me if I ask him to make his own vs. buying pre-fab. Hmmm....See MoreFaux Painting Out Dated?
Comments (34)Well, I'm getting kinda immune to the no comment/negative comments around here so what the heck! We live in Texas and our home reflects that. This bold faux painting effect was more popular several to a few years ago. I think it's fading out now but we still love it and aren't concerned with resell. We built this house 34 years ago when we were 21 and 22 and plan to stay here till we die. Our den has a faux finish as well but not this bold. Our dining room has the same texture (Spanish Knife) but no faux finish. This wasn't supposed to be as bold. The painter started behind the toilet area, did a patch and asked me how I liked it. I liked it! When he called me in to look at it, I was a bit shocked. He got a little more heavy handed with the glaze. I didn't say anything as I DO like it, it's just a little heavier than we anticipate. It's rustic and this bathroom (is supposed to have) an elegant-ish rustic look. In 2010 when this post started, this look was still going strong (in Texas)....See MoreAnother 'Is this Out of Style or Dated?' Question ..
Comments (32)1. Planning on getting new knobs for the Cupboards. I was thinking Black Scrolly 2. New Light fixtures. There is one in the middle of the room. Maybe a Chandelier 3. The wood siding I wasn't ready to tear off and do the repairs so I painted that green hoping for a "garden look" since the wood grain shows through like a lattice, trellis look. Plus it's a Darkish room and wanted to brighten it up. 4. My *vision* was to buy some garden floral bedding .. with the green and ivory colors in it. 5. Carpet is brand new. It stays. Brown to hide dirt and stay with warm colors 6. The closet doors. I don't know what to do??!!! 7. The window over the bed is a HUGE problem. I took down the old nasty blinds. There is a new window A/C sticking through it (we have no central A/C) so this was a necessity. 8. I want a window treatment to cover the A/C when it is not in use. I am TOTALLY stuck on the window treatment 9. I need a dresser, armoire or something. What Color or Kind should I be looking for?? Please help .. be kind lol. The room you couldn't even Go Into it.. when I started on it lol. I can take ANY honest advice, criticism. Please tell me if my plans have any merit. I want the room to look good and am not married to anything. thanks...See MoreIs this "dated/going out of style" ..
Comments (6)Two toned kitchens are not out of style. IMPO, white will never go out of style. Ever. What I think is trending now, at least based on what I see here, is white uppers and stained lowers. I agree switching from dark counters is great as it sounds like your kitchen now leans toward a farmhouse style. Maybe not depending on how you have it decorated. You mentioned you are painting all walls white and you want white counters. Are you sure you want white cabinets? That is a LOT of white. You can certainly warm it up and introduce color with fruit bowls, cutting boards, window treatments, etc. But it can look very stark....See MoreStarCraft Custom Builders
