Broken birdbath
Comments (4)mamaw2, I had mine break into about 5! (darn squirrels!) I found the advice I took from this forum also, and it worked wonderfully. It is called "Plastic Fusion" and is a 2-part glue that you squeeze and both sides come out equally, and you mix it and apply. It dried a neutral blonde color and you can wipe the ooze off before it dries. My birdbath holds water, and you can barely tell it had cracked. I even filled in the chips with the glue. I found it at Home Depot. I have it right here "Fast-Set Plastic Fusion" - I've used it on tons of things since I bought it. On a side note, on another tippy birdbath, I used Gorilla Glue and glued the top to the stem so it wouldn't tip. The Gorilla Glue foams and doubles in size to fill in everything - kind of like how "Great Stuff" works, but with glue. It wouldn't be good for your cracked birdbath because it would foam up, but it works on other things. You can actually chisel and chip the residue off it dries so hard. Good luck with your project! Comments (2)The John Deere places that I have worked with are very good, and will help you find the part. Before you go to the dealer you may wish to find the part at the John Deere site. It is index on the tractor model. http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.HomePageServlet_Alt...See Morebroken tree
Comments (1)seems like the tree is a total loss. Now by broke it sounds like you mean almost or completely in half which means you might as well buy a new tree....See MoreAny advise on low lit lawn area?
Comments (7)Based on what you said about it being wet in the spring and fall, the best way to handle it is to look for ways to divert the water from the area. Since it appears relatively narrow, you may terrace it and make the area a rock garden and plant things that like water. One possible solution would be a pond at the top with a "stream" down the slope planted with all kinds of flowers, and similar vegetation. I have seen some very pretty gardens on slopes in these forum and other landscape forums, I have a similar area in my yard. I have considered ways to control the water, but have found none. There is not an obvious place where the water comes from. The structure of the subsurface is such that there are veins of porous rock. The water enters this vein up hill and comes out in an area of my yard that is at the bottom of slope. I became aware of this when we had an Nuttlal oak planted shortly after I moved in 10 years ago. When planted, they created a basin around the tree so it could be water while it was getting use to its new home. I would fill the basin, but being careful to not over flow it. After 10 to 15 minutes later the water would start coming out of the ground about 20 to 30 feet down the slope from the tree. The area in the immediate area of the basin would be dry....See Morelive_wire_oak
