After all the help I received here, I wanted to update you on my exterior garage door/shutter color. We selected what appeared to be a medium-shade brown and it ended up looking alot darker, bolder, and redder than we wanted. But since the house faces south and I live in the midwest, I think it will fade a little. And if not, DH and I can always try to adjust the color in the future. Not what I hoped for, but we'll live with it for a while and see what happens. Again, thank you for all the advice and a big thank you to Squirrelheaven for the photoshop magic! try_hard

dirtymartini...did you paint your house yet? Have you changed your mind about the bonefish colors? I'm currently in a home I'd have never chosen but I'm determined to bloom where I'm planted. It's very contemporary in style and is imposing on the lot. The roof is NOT neutral...it's that orangey-brown shingle color and I've tried to figure out exterior colors for over a year...and then...your post! I think I have a touch more brown in my shingles than in your roof...my roof color is more along the lines of the wood trim on the bonefish example you posted above and not as deep as the awning...but I still think the colors may work. I'd love to see your home finished. Please keep us posted.

Paint the red steps to match the gray concrete porch. If the wrought iron is rusted, paint it with Rustoleum. Remove the shutters, BBQ and dish. Make sure there is nothing wrong that would cause the new renter and you any grief. Put your For Rent sign in the yard. Don't plant anything you don't want to be neglected and to die. Renters don't to much more than mow, and sometimes they don't even do that. Be sure they own a lawnmower and know how to use it.

I wouldn't paint that brick. Lime wash is (mostly) for unfortunately colored brick. Yours already has a similar lime wash look and it has a really good colorway. Get a designer to suggest some new ideas for the trim/shutter/door color. Try taking off the shutters to see if that helps give an updated look/feel.
