Help! Chandeliers too large for my foyer?

Ok this is my very first post, so here goes... I'm renovating my historic 1902 Victorian shingle-style house and can't decide about chandeliers. My electrician is starting on Monday and the pressure is real!!

From the rule of chandelier sizes - in my 14x12 foyer with 9'8" ceilings, it should be about 26" wide and 25-30" tall. However, I REALLY like this chandelier that is 34" W x 18.5"H. Since it's short, could I break the rules and make it work in my foyer? I also attached another other chandelier I like that is 29" diameter x34"H, but it's a stronger gold and I'm afraid it may be too modern for my house. What do you think?

I like the first one. What would be the clearance with that one? You room looks large enough. Would you put a round table under it?

The second one does not look Victorian enough.

@redifar since you already choose the two of them, the first one will do just fine and like @houssaonmentioned above, a nice round table would look awesome. Make sure to observe "scale" - not too big, not too small but just right. Good luck. Nice project.

Your foyer sounds exactly like mine, actually, yours might be a touch larger. I currently have a huge fixture in that space. I believe the original owners chose it to fill the large window, and fill it does! We call it the big brass spider. I'm struggling with getting rid of it because its a gorgeus real brass fixture (and priced at $3k new on Progress Lighting website), but I feel its far too large. It has 3 tiers, 21 lights total and trips the breaker if I have it on and try to vacuum the hall. Now, my fixture is 48 inches wide, and it is far too large. But I think 36 would work for me, and I think from what your describing, my foyer is slightly smaller than yours. Here is a link that might be useful: The big Brass Spider

I had a devil of a time choosing mine, and loved this one when I saw it. The finish looks like black wrought iron and it comes in other sizes, but I needed the largest w/the high ceiling. I also didn't want glass inserts since that would make changing a bulb even more difficult, and I would be the one doing that. I liked the price, too! thanks both! Patricia, that was my original plan, and I am doing so in quite a few rooms already. But I actually really love this one and haven't found one I like more. Do you think I can get away with this size? Or would the smaller be better. I actually am using the smaller size in the dining nook but in brass. Thanks!
