difference between meals....
Comments (4)from reading around on the forum, it seems that cracked corn is the "food of choice" for your lawn throughout the season. true or false? would alfalfa or soybean be a better option? False. Any of them would be good. corn gluten meal seems to be praised for its pre-emergent herbicide qualities. does that mean it's only ideal for use early in the season? also, do the other meals possess the same herbicide qualities? The testing was done on corn gluten meal. As far as I know no other materials were tested. CGM is simply a great fertilizer. and then, soybean meal seems to be the fertilizer of choice for the lawn's "final meal" at the end of the season...any other time it's useful? False. It is a great fertilizer any day of the year. also, the feed store i'll probably be getting everything from has the alfalfa and soybean meals in either granulated or pelletized form. is there a benefit to one over the other? it would seem to me that the pelletized form would be longer-lasting as the soil microbes would take longer to break it down, but is that true? does corn gluten ever come in pellets? Pellets last about 30 seconds longer than the granulated. As soon as a pellet gets damp, it melts into mush. CGM comes in dust and in granules....See MorePatio Furniture-Quality difference between Target vs. High end
Comments (56)I found this thread because I just got off the phone with my wife who informed me that replacement slings for our set of six Telescope chairs will be $780.00! That is a very tough pill to swallow, and like many here we weighed this heavily against just getting a cheaper set from HD, Costco, or any number of stores. Our set is about 10 years old to date (purchased summer of 2010) and the aluminum frames, table, and umbrella have held up extremely well (we do store them inside for winter though). Ultimately, I decided to stick with these and pay the exorbitant price for a few reasons: - The rest of the set is extremely high quality. I feel good each year when I pull it out of storage - heavy duty powder coated aluminum construction that has lasted well and still looks 9/10 after a spring wipe-down. - It does bother me how much importation has changed - pushing us toward a throw-away-away-and-buy-another culture. I do feel like we enjoy additional quality on these American made items (not always the case). - Less and less stuff is American made any more. As an engineer and a maker, I miss the days when we made most of the best stuff here. This set still exemplifies that quality. It's a little thing, but something I rarely get to enjoy these days. - After 10 years, with very little degradation (other than the fabric slings), I know what to expect from this set, and feel confident that they will last another 10 years easily with new fabric. The convenience of going 10-12 years between having to think about this, or take a gamble on something potentially less durable is worth something to me. Surely, I'll be feeling the sting of this bill in about a month (so good thing I'm writing this now!), but I thought I'd share what tipped us to reinvesting in this very expensive set. Comments (12)So for what it is worth, I am with Sophie on this one. You need an architect. My first thought is there is no way this house will support any dormer on the front. I think any dormer that will add meaningful space is going to overpower the house. I really don't see a way to put any dormer on the front of the house without an architectural redo, and honestly that seems a bit like throwing good money after bad. Let me remind you that I am right every time, that I am not wrong. So having said all that, it may just be my failure to visualize your plan and it could end up looking amazing. If it were me and I wanted the room I would add in a large shed dormer across the back of the house. These are pretty acceptable architecturally and they add a lot of meaningful space but they also really elevate the scale of the remodel....See MoreDifference between Toto Neorest 700h and 550h
Comments (2)That is totally nonsensical. Ralph Lauren is not sold at K-Mart even if it is similar to products sold there. I am talking two completely identically functioning toilets made by the same company. No difference other than shape. As I've discovered, the 700h is ADA compliant and the 550h isn't. THAT is the real difference. So if you're disabled you have to pay a $1000 tax to Kohler for a toilet you can safely take a shit in. I am sure it costs Kohler no more to design either version; it's like Kohler purposely made a non-ADA version just so they could charge more money for the ADA version. They are sticking it to disabled people. Way to go Kohler. Way. To. Go....See MoreGargamel
