The arch tiles were very special -- They are made by a company called Westminster Ceramics, and there's some doubt if they're still available or even if Westminster is still around. But the heavy trim arch sections are a specialty item, and as you can imagine, they were the inspiration and starting point for this whole bath. If they're still made, they come designed for a 12" diameter arch or 24" arch (we went with the 24", obviously). They also have matching straight pieces for the sides and many other trims as well. Inside the doorway, the 'frame' sections are regular bullnose tiles with the flat edge opposite the bullnose butted flush to the side of the trim pieces and the bullnose edge butted against the sides of the shower's interior tiles. It took quite a bit of work to get the arch diameter, frame thickness, and inside walls exactly the right sizes! Amazingly, the ONLY cut edges in that whole doorway are at the bottom of the door where it meets the floor, and where the 5" x 10" bullnoses transition to the 5" x 2 1/2" bullnoses at the start of the arch. That bath took a while to tile!

Sorry bmorepanic... I'll mock up yours later :) I know I'm mixing materials like crazy but I am finding it easier and easier to play with design concepts with Sketchup. Wish I'd tried it earlier in the project. All you have to do is create a jpeg out of tile found on a website and... Counters are Torquay quartz, so some resemblence to marble. I've reached out to my AS salesperson (many samples received to date) for info on the honeycomb. I can't quite figure out coloring - the tile displayed is an off white tile, but the coloration is definitely caramel-y... wonder if you pick that too? Pricing appears to be less than $30 which is in the ballpark. What would you do for a shelf? I sort of like the SS in the AS photo. rococogurl - I'm pleased as punch, so happy you suggested this option. Will be back for color input I'm sure eventually. Do you have any inspiration pictures of the green, by any chance? By Moroccan, do you mean arabesque? Love them, but immediately think of Bee; it's her tile in my mind :)

Keep with the straight pattern. If you do staggered, you won't want to do half-offset with that size of tile or you're likely to experience lippage issues which looks bad, but can also be worse for tripping. Offset patterns with this size tile should be in 1/3s at the largest.

Thank you! This particular tile comes in 6" x 48" ... 8" x 48" .... and 6" x 24". I almost wanted to mix the three but was told that anywhere I used 8" would have to be. Full room-length run and so would stand out, and while adding a relatively few 24" might help with the randomness I want, the installers could also put too many together creating choppy looking areas that would also stand out. In one flooring shop I visited I saw a wood laminate that actually. Ones with varying lengths and widths IN THE SAME BOX! It looked awesome on the floor display, very real wood like. I wish tiles came that way.
