LOL In Melbourne the dams are something like 30% lower than they were in 2000 and we have tight water restrictions placed on us. The greenwashed loons have lobbied hard against new dams being built and the state has agreed! Yet the population has risen by almost the same percentage and we're expecting a further population growth. How the state govt expect to 'water' all these people has yet to be seen. They're so busy 'thinking ahead' combating 'man-made' climate change they're missing the point. There won't be any water left down here and the poor future kiddies will be dead from lack of water long before CO2 will kill them. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. i bought a couple of these on ebay to use in my walk in terrarium and they work wonderfully. one is for reg heat and other is for backup.

When my wife had neck surgery, I just swapped out one of her bedroom ceiling light dimmers for one with an IR remote control. Lutron brand. They also make versions for plug-in lamps -- you plug that into the wall, and the lamp into it. Their IR dimmers don't have "addresses", so you cannot separately control two in the same room. If you need to to that, there are RF ones. You can set them up to be controlled by specific remotes. That is what we have for over-bed reading lights, separate RF controls for my wife and for me. There are "dimmer" and "switch" versions. I have the RF switch one for my garage fluorescent lights, since they cannot be used with a dimmer. For that one, it was the easy way to add a new "wall switch", by mounting the tiny remote on a wall. In addition, we each have a remote in our car for the garage/shop lights. If the IR ones work for what you need, they are the cheapest solution.

My typical usage is "when home, set the manual humidistat to always-on and set the manual thermostat to desired temperature; What does "always on" mean? Does the dehumidifier run constantly regardless of the humidity level? When you are in the house, what are the typical thermostat temperature settings? What is the range of humidity level when you are at home? What humidity level are trying to maintain? when away, set the humidistat to 55% and set the thermostat to cool to 70". Since the outdoor temperature at the home is rarely lower than 70, the "away" setting lets the humidistat run things (with the indoor temperature typically ranging from the mid 70s to the high 80s and the actual A/C running maybe 4-5 times a day for about 10 minutes at a time -- more frequently during rainy season). If the thermostat is set to cool to 70 degrees, then why would the indoor temperature range from the mid 70s to the high 80s? if that overcool limit could be set to, like, 20 degrees then that'd be perfect. Do you really want to over cool the house by 20 degrees to try to control the humidity?
