Elizabeth Salter daylilies.

We grow many Elizabeth Salter daylilies. She works with miniatures and small flowers.

Bandit Bay is intensely colored.

Black Fathom Depths is beautiful but it has not done well here.

I have used Carpathian Magic a lot in crosses because of the edge. It does not, however, increase here.

Curious Cutie is a great grower here. Its only flaw is that it melts in the rain.

Everything Nice and Neat survives but doesn't really thrive here.

Geometric Wizard is one of my favorites in the whole garden. It has made a small clump, but doesn't seem like it will be a great increaser. That's probably because every year I load it down with pods.

Jason Salter is a true miniature diploid variety. It hasn't been here very long so I don't know yet how it will perform.

I like the edge on Knowledgeable Gnome.

Mary Ethel Anderson is another true miniature diploid. It's one of my favorites.

Merely Mystical is a small tetraploid.

Wow! I thought I'd lost this post because it was taking forever to load. So I close the tab and when I logged back in, there it was. I dodged a bullet on that one.

I have threatened Merry Moppet with being shovel-pruned on many occasions. Its flaw is that it doesn't open well, especially in the early part of the season.

My Special Angel has not been a great grower, but I love the flowers.

Serenade of Springtime is a small-flowered tetraploid. I love the edge and the color. It is one I have been using for breeding gold edges in small tets.

Sprinkled with Springtime is technically a large flower (4.5 inch bloom), but I use it with the smalls for the gold edge.

The color on The Colorado Kid appears more intense because of the cool temperatures last summer when it started to bloom.

I probably don't have any since they are mainly small or miniatures. I like the color of Colorado Kid.

I would love to trade for Japanese Maple trees, Perilla, variegated lilirope, Big Blue Lilirope, and Heavenly Bamboo seedlings. I have several bearded irises that are all kinds of colors. Most of these have names, just recalling them or finding the name at this point would be difficult. Although I do have some names for them... Dearest One, Spring Delight, Bicolored, blue/white, Golden Brown/cinnamon color (name escapes me right now), beautiful gold, yellow, yellow with white (shorter one), Edith Wolford, also a Peach/apricot color, gorgeous, (name escapes me right now) Baby Chubby Cheeks (smaller blue/white/purple, hard to describe) But very cute! I have various daylilies, I would have to check on them as to whether they are ready to divide.

Nancy---I love your excitement!--you should visit sometime. Unlike some hybridizers, I do sell seedlings. These were all grown outdoors with no special care. I want to see what they will do under average conditions. We had a low of -5 this winter and they all survived that. I would love to be able to test for you guys, but right now most of these are ranging from one to three fans at the max. But thanks for the offer. Betsy--when I was first hybridizing I felt the same way, an internal struggle to catch up, so to speak, with the current hybridizing. I soon learned that catcing up was a tall order. Then I realized that I liked patterns and the only one really doing any was Liz Salter. She has been my inspiration from day one, I think she is an incredible hybridizer. I had the chance to tell her that this winter at the Cleveland symposium; she said "you're the one everybody is talking about." Could've knocked me over with a feather. Anyhow I decided to follow my heart and at first that wasn't so easy because I thought maybe I was making a mistake. But I hung in there and have created my own niche...anyone can to that if they decide to follow their heart and not someone else's program. It is a lonely path for a while, because the results won't be spectacular and only you will understand why you are doing what you are doing. I also pray for my flowers. "Ye have not because ye ask not." So I take that to heart. So giving credit where it's due...I have finally reached a point where now it's all making sense. I read a little bit about it and it sounds like it usually isn't deadly for the iris and just removing foliage in the fall and putting it in the trash instead of leaving it there until spring (like I always do) will help quite a bit for next year. I'm going to try to remember to do that. I thought I had some kind of fungus on my phlox but did a little research and found out they have a bad case of Phlox Plant Bug. They're barely bigger than aphids but I could see them after I looked closely. The foliage looks terrible and I do think it will eventually kill them if I leave them alone. It's only in one bed where I just have a bunch of volunteers and hasn't bothered my other phlox yet.

Black Fathod Depths is a favorite of mine and I loved Geometric Wizard from your posts and I have finally got it, but this will be its first year here. Those are all beautiful, Nancy.

I love your smalls, Nancy, I do grow some smalls here. I will check to see if I have any Salters growing here, I don’t, as a rule, pay attention to all of the hybridizers in my gardens.

Just checked, I have a few.
Daring Deception, color is washed out, not my favorite but a decent grower.
Mage Quest, looks appliqués most days.
Moonlit Masquerade, a favorite oldie.
South Sea Serenade, reliable here, growing in too much shade.

I have a few but I don't have many because short daylilies don't interest me although I will admit there are some really lovely faces , just wish they were taller . I did grow Dragon's Eye but lost it a few winters ago. I grow Breed Apart ,

Dragon Dreams., Make Believe Magic , Victorian Violet , and Queen's Quadrill

Many of her latest registration are much more interestting to me as they are much taller , a change from the ever present bagel form and some really nice patterning . I would love to track down Dragonfly Dancer ,Everyone loves Tim, Flattering Imitation Here's to you Bill Robinson ., Mississippi Bill Robinson ,and Lavender Zipline .
