How should I paint this original bathroom built-in

Hi there – I would like to do some repairs and renovations in our 1903 condo bathroom. The spilled Dash and in the bathroom is one of my favorite elements of the condo. I plan on keeping a similar light wall color. Do you think I should paint the belt – in the same color as the wall? Keep it as that is and just freshen it up? Paint it a darker color? Use darker colors on some parts and lighter colors on another? I would like to highlight it, and bring the look from “cute” to put-together. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
