Comments (29)Lindy, on my computer, those colors all look very green. Can you pull up a pale grey-blue instead of grey-green? Also, tan colors would work. I would not go burgundy on an MCM house. Check out the Eichler Network for good Eichler colors, door styles, lighting styles, etc. Here is a link that might be useful: Eichler Network....See MoreCurb Appeal Ideas Wanted
Comments (7)Samuel, what is the purpose of that little patch of soil between the walk and driveway, near the garage door? And what is the plant stuck there? The first thing I would do is remove the blocky shrubs across the front and replace with something that has a natural growth habit, and doesn't need to be sheared into a box. I couldn't make suggestions without knowing your general location, how much sun/shade this area receives, and some information about the soil. The area screams for some color, doesn't it? Since the steps up to the front door are so narrow, I suggest that you get rid of the pots on both sides of the door. I'd also remove all of the pots on one side of the steps entirely. Use your largest and prettiest containers for the other side, and fill them with something suitable for the amount of light in that area....See MoreHelp Please! Curb Appeal and Landscape Ideas Needed

Comments (16)Thanks for the extra pics. Your really nice house was unfortunately "remuddled" when that addition was added. That's probably why you're unhappy with your entryways. You should be subtracting, not adding, fake features like brick. What you need to do is try to bring the two remuddled entries more in line with the old, main entry that is lovely except for all the scrolly railings that detract from the wonderful style of the main house. All railings should be replaced with plain, substantial white railings on all three entryways. Addtionally remove the black shutters. What year was the house built? Do a search for "white wood frame house" with the decade it was built to see what images pop up to help you maintain the style and character of the main house before that addition was put on. Here's a house the same vintage as yours with the right sized and right kind of pillars and railings. Since you asked for low-cost ways to fix up the house, I'm suggesting you keep the entire house painted white except for all the doors and the steps. Spend the main part of your budget removing the overhang of the entryway to the right of the deep entryway. Replace all scrolly railings on all three entryways with plain white, straight ones. On the entrytway closest to the garage, add a white pillar that matches the pillars on the main house porch. Hang a lovely window box to the double window. Keep it filled with overflowing plants in spring, summer, and fall and evergreens in winter. Paint the deeper entryway walls white to lighten them up. Repaint all steps the color of your roof to link them or keep them a pale gray. Paint all your entryway doors a pale teal, including those lovely double doors on the older part of the main house. Paint the added window box teal. Put a couple of pale teal wooden chairs in that entryway or on the old porch of the main house. If you don't need a garage door at this time, keep it white. If you get a new one, paint it the pale teal of the doors or paint it white. Go to a garden center and have them help you design a perennial garden for that block of lawn you know have. A mix a couple evergreen shrubs, perennial grasses, and flowering plants, plus the large windowbox, will bring color to the house and help camouflage the remuddled side by drawing the attention forward....See Morekerrimusi
