I would like help decorating an 80's and 90's studio loft apartment?
Comments (1)it's a very general question..)) can you be a bit more specific? share some pic? tell us a bit more about your style preferences/needs? otherwise would be like me asking "what should I wear to the dinner tomorrow?"-and no one ever saw me, doesn't know my wardrobe, has no idea what is the restaurant and where, and what's the occasion and what's the weather and who will be there besides me.....See MoreSuggestions for open upstairs loft enclosure/noise reduction
Comments (5)I have a loft space in my home coincidentally, and it is where my son has his xbox. However our loft is also our guest room, it does have a 1/2 pony wall not an open railing but I wanted a solution to provide guests more privacy. I used hanging panels. I take them down when we do not have guests. You could make some out ou foam core which would be sound absorbing. Also if you think about sound as a wave, which it is, pretty much your set up now is bouncing the sound down to the living room. My loft have a peak above it so the sound goes up. If you rip out the rug and put in a hard floor it is going to be louder. You need to think about absorbing the sound, not just shutting it in. Look into acoustic absorption panels....See Moreupstairs loft/laundry dilemma
Comments (3)Which is A, and which is B? What are your needs and intentions for the laundry room, and for the loft? How does your family read? Some people like an isolated, quiet spot, others like activity of some kind around them, to read. What is your intention for the desk? What is the rest of the family’s intention? Now, just from my own perspective, I like a laundry room that can be an apparel care room, with space to store and use an iron, ironing board, steamer, and have space for detergents, pre-treats, bleach, oxy, dryer sheets (I use them only occasionally), and oh yes, have a decent, accessible, cleanable dryer duct....See MoreWhat do I put in the open loft upstairs?
Comments (11)Kristie, you have a big open space now. If you do as Beverly suggests, your big open area will become two smaller areas. Plus, sitting at the table will be much more pleasant by the large window. And instead of everything squished together with a big blank space, all of the areas will have some breathing room around them. Pull the sectional closer to the tv and put a sofa console table behind it on the window side. Add some lamps to it. It's OK to have some empty space between the sofa and window. In fact, it would be preferable to the large empty expanse between the sectional and the tv. If you move the rug to the table area and get something warmer and colorful in the sectional area, it won't seem so big and empty....See Morepeachy williams
