I don't know, it sounds like later in May is a problem for a lot of people, not to mention the parks. What about the weekend of May 10/11th or even the 3rd/4th? Then, if it's rainy, no fee issue with a pavilion, and either way we should have park space, whichever park we end up at. Just as an aside, the closer we can park to where we gather, the easier it is on all of us, I think, since we won't have to carry the plants as far, which can really add up when we make multiple trips with heavy containers. (I admit it, I'm a wimp about it- but in my defense I have two discs out in my neck.) BTW- I have about 10-2 year old regular sage plants, if anyone is looking for some. I tried planting them with my tomatoes but it didn't work out- the sage is overtaking the beds and has got to come out. I'll talk to Kathy and see if she can join us, too.

HI Folks, Wow a lot of postings.. I am a all around gardener, but tend toward edibles, herbs and such. I do grow a ton of other things. I have a huge woodland garden, small forest garden, tiny water garden, several butterfly gardens, wildflower gardens, organic veggie gardens, herb gardens, heck I just plain like to garden and if it can grow here I have it or want it. LOL I have a good garden friend who is a lady and belongs to the wallingford garden club. She is not "old" but.. LOL I have been invited to take part in several garden club projects but.. I really an not a joiner. I am a do-er.. I hade several garden buddies when I lived on the otherside of town they like me have all moved away. I still live in Wally world . While bermuda can be beautiful, it is a hassle to keep it looking nice. It is one of the few grasses that should be mowed at the mower's lowest setting. Partially due to that, it should be mowed twice a week during the summer to keep from scalping it every week. Bermuda also needs as much water as all the other lawns if you want it to be green. The idea that it needs less water depends on your tolerance for brown grass. When bermuda gets very dry it becomes dormant and turns brown. When St Augustine dries out completely, it dies. Thus you have to water St Aug to keep it alive but you could stop watering bermuda altogether and it would remain alive but brown. Bermuda also needs monthly doses of high nitrogen fertilizer to stay green. This is to say that you can have a bermuda lawn but if you are not willing to maintain it, it is going to look raggedy. It can also thin out and become a haven for weeds. Back in the 50s, before the modern herbicides became inexpensive, when you bought grass seed you got a mixture of a fescue, Kentucky bluegrass, rye, and even clover. The idea was that one of the grasses would dominate in almost any soil and you could have a green lawn with multiple species of plants. That approach is one you might consider. You are in the transition zone meaning that you would be able to grow almost any grass.

Thanks for asking, Jojoco. The town was just lovely. I loved your suggestions, too. Krebs was an absolute delight. I did something I always wanted to do; we had no entree or dessert, we just ordered eight appetizers and shared it all! We created our own tapas menu if you will. There were so many cool things I wanted to try, and since it was for a good cause I could justify it, LOL. DD thought I was crazy. The green grape, celery and green pea gazpacho ws TDF. I also loved the sashimi with melon and jalapeno. My fave may have been the stonefruit salad with Brie and proscuitto. Lovely lovely. Nest 58 was my favorite gift shop of the many we wandered into on our entire trip. Great stuff. Too bad so much of it was specific to the town (zip code, coordinates, etc). I did go twice and got some things for me, plus a housewarming gift for a friend. Never got to the Sherwood because DD wanted to go a second time to Gildas (yum). The Mirbeau Inn was very nice but the decor is a bit dated, even for that genre. The spa was good but not great IMHO. All in all, we had a lot of fun and kept busy. The Roosevelt spa in Saratoga is old but has a certain charm and has excellent massage therapists. I was this close to running away with Alex ... DD got a great makeup lesson. We did the painting thing there, too, and she won money at the track, on a horse called "Shopaholic"! We did do a lot of shopping. We had lunch (and shopping) in cute lil Hudson on the way up, and lunch (and shopping) in Rhinebeck on the way back. The best part was talking in bed till 2am.
