Which exterior light fixtures fit house style? Please help me choose
Comments (40)Well, we ordered our coach lights today. We will soon order some for the back of the house. Here is what we chose. I appreciate the assistance given. The one below is for the front of the house. It is in oil rubbed bronze -- much browner than in the picture. We ordered two larger ones to go beside the front door, and 3 medium ones (2 on either side of garage door, an one at the garage man door). We concluded that we need coach lights that did not extend too far (not deep ones), so we had to go a different direction. These lights have built in LED lights. The lights are made by Artcraft. Here is the ones we are ordering for the back of the house. There are 4 total along the back which is all one plane (not jogs out)....See MoreHelp me with a dining room light fixture
Comments (12)It was pretty hard to figure what you were asking ....and harder to really nail your style from the pictures....but my first thought was that you need to address the function of each of your dilemmas...the dining table light is important for lighting downward to the tabletop...so I would let that be the first feature to look for in your choice ........as to pot lights ...they serve a certain purpose as well and the ....location ....is most important .....so I would locate them them where needed ...not necessarily where the existing ones are located.....as to the entry light ...it is not clear where the entry is but that light should be near the entry so it is obvious what it is there for....as to your fixture choices they don’t seem to relate with the rest of your space but they do reflect a very eclectic taste ..it usually helps to define your style clearly before making your choices.....since this is a sort of permanent element they should relate to each other....if you really like the entry piece I would start with things with that look similar to that in some way...See MorePlease help me choose the right fixtures for my kitchen/dining room?
Comments (21)Everyone's remodel takes longer than they think! I'll be 1 1/2 years out on a kitchen remodel we thought would take 6 months, so I'm sure you're doing great. Thanks for the big photo of the fixture, and it does look perfect for your space with a nice blend of those colors in the drapery hardware as well as your somerset pendants and the mirrors. As for the mirrors, really anything can be made to work and blend into a space as long as colors, textures or patterns are repeated elsewhere in the room. If you like the mirrors, by all means keep them as they are despite all the opinions people are giving you. Other people aren't living with the space -- you are. It sounds like your pendant hanging length isn't going to interfere with head or visual space, but I'm not an expert on that so double-check the measurements. If your counters are a standard 36" high and the pendants reach 36" above that, then I think you'll be fine. Some people are putting in elongated fixtures over long dining tables, similar to the ones you posted in previous photos, but I have a dining table that is long with a small chandelier above it and have never felt that the fixture was too small. If you like the colors and shape of the round one you just posted, I think it would work for your long table, especially because it has so many lights in it. You might want to think about installing it with a dimmer so that it is not actually too bright for some occasions. I'm happy to throw in my suggestions as so many people have helped me a ton with our remodel here in the Houzz forums, primarily through the archive of searchable posts. I'm like you trying to make decisions on my own, so it's required a lot of time researching everything....See MoreUndersized Foyer light dilemma please help me choose a fixture!
Comments (33)I think I have found a solution. I can’t find anything in the chandeliers or wall sconce lines that I really like or would mesh the two. I’m going to buy this fixture that is very discounted and switch out the shades with something like this and possibly dangle a few crystals from it. Then is will marry the glass sconces and the silver chandelier. It is appropriately sized and looks more like a foyer fixture imo. I also have a Casablanca ceiling fan in the middle of this room and plan to use the same type of crystal shades on its light bulbs....See MoreLampsUSA.com
