No offense intended, but I don’t like the looks of the floating shelf at all, and especially not considering the OP likes English Country and traditional aesthetics. It cuts the wall in half and looks too “modern farmhouse” trendy. The prints as they are have a nice, simple, elegant look.

Thank you! I was kind of thinking the same with the shelf, but I see the point about the chandelier maybe being too high - I think they hung it that way because the ceilings are 12ft - I’m liking all the different input to help me decide what will be best! :)

Jinx would you personally go with more of the unlined shade like in the photo I shared or the more tailored lined option that is more of a traditional bell only w-burlap fabric?

For your room, I like the tailored option. Great juxtaposition of casual and detailed. :)

I’d lower the chandelier a bit. Shades will change the lighting dramatically. Burlap will really yellow the room, so I’d try different ones at night before committing. Personally, I’d leave them off.

I didn't even think about the room yellowing - that's a whole other issue. If that's the case, are there other shade options you'd suggest as alternatives?

I think the vibe here calls for a little more refined feel for the shades...for the same reason the cushions seem a little too farmhouse country ..they could be a little more elegant with the beautiful rug...

The teeny shades R.L. suggests show more of the detail ..it should be more about the chandelier than the shades...

I am thankful for the ideas - lots of differing opinions, so now might have even more trouble deciding what to do! The cushions are Schumacher fabric & I'm happy so definitely don't want to make any changes there - they work for me =). I like the idea of potentially lowering the height of the chandelier a couple links.

I do understand what Anne is saying about shades changing the lighting. They absolutely do on my chandalier. I, too, have a traditional home, and very similar chandalier. The shades give off more "directional downward" lighting right onto the table, whereas, the light bounces around the room without them. My opinion - yes, I would lower the chandalier a bit, beef up the centerpiece, go with flame-tip bulbs if not doing shades, and although I would like to suggest no shades, the directional light is more important to me....don't like staring at bright bare bulbs in my eyes. LOVE your pictures - your room is beautiful btw!!

I like how the detail on the shades shows when they are lit

And the less dominant prints make a less busy background for the chandelier...you have made elegantly subtle choices
