No never have your back to the door. It’s fine. Now you need something big and bold on that wall then no one will notice the monitor they’ll be looking at whatever big and bold yu put up there

I'd only worry about the orientation of the monitor (and therefore the desk) if there were reflections in the screen (so you wouldn't want to place the desk opposite the window). Hopefully you purchased a monitor with a matt screen to minimize any reflections. Regarding your setup, I'd get a keyboard, position the monitor directly in front of you, and push the laptop out of the way. Also consider a right-size, tilting office chair with arms to support your back, and your arms when you are typing.
